Way back when.... many FReepers thought Syria was the destination of choice for Saddam's WMD. From time to time the release of this type evidence brings more credence to our early contentions.

Exactly. In fact, it was one of the first stories that came out in the ensuing weeks. I remember some headlines that read "Russian Spetnatz helped Saddam move WMDs to Syria". Wether or not the Russians were that extensively involved, it's SO OBVIOUS this is the only place Saddam COULD have gone. Never a doubt in my mind they're anywhere else.

I was shocked that no one followed up on this in the months and now, years, that followed. It was quietly dismissed despite being the most obvious place he'd send them.
Yes, there must be too much difficulty regarding both the Syrian and Russian govts on following this up.

I mean when you broadcast to the world that Saddam has these mobile truck labs - he ain't stupid - he's gonna move them before we come. Syria is the only place he had to go.
