I see a lot of Freepers fast and free with the "nuke em" option in many threads. I may be wrong, but I'm guessing it may be because 1. They deserve it. 2. Its not in our back yard.

But, take a good look at the way the "Winds of War" will blow. If you nuke something in Syria, they are on virtually exactly the same longitude line as California across the U.S.

If the nuclear fallout gets into the Gulf Stream, it will only be a matter of a day or so before it hits the U.S. with all sorts of radiation.

Correct about their Air Force but I don't know about the depth of it. There's no question at all about the IAF but I really don't think it will come to a confrontation between the two. The Royal Saudi's don't want war, they want peaceful business dealings.

Here's how all this shakes out IMHO. It appears the saudis may have a few billion of our bucks lying around. But you have to ask, does it make sense to keep arming the country that had more participants in 911 than any other? Probably not.
So what is the down side to not selling the saudis hi-tech stuff. My guess is the ruskies are on hold on line 2 with a 20% off deal just hoping we turn them(the saudis) down.

This is the result of the Saudi bid to buy control of Hezballah with the $1.5B they invested into Lebanon recently. They have decided to buy control by outbidding Iran which they have the money to invest. This is not going to turn out well.
