Despite the clear economic case against a higher federal minimum wage, "moderates" in Congress are continuing the push the issue. Fortunately, House conservatives are not going along with this misguided effort, and members of the Republican Study Committee circulated this letter on Capitol Hill yesterday.

Yes, another fine LEFTIST idea -- raise the cost of doing business. Drive more business offshore. The libs can only see votes and taxes. There is nothing else in their myopic little socialist world.
I disagree with this. I would like to see the minimum wage indexed to inflation with yearly increases to reflect this.
Quick. Go buy a copy of Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell. Read it. You'll be glad you did. Seriously.
But, but...What about the children?
I have. I still think this is the best solution.
Never took a basic economics class, did ya?
But, but...What about the children?

The libs could care less, in reality. Why? Because they do not vote, or pay taxes. Nothing for the libs there...
My math tells me this minium wage would provide $15,000 a year to a worker, $7.25/hr X 40 hrs/wk X 52 wks/year.
That has to be patronization if not anything else. I'll help you out of poverty; congradulations on your new salary of $15,000/yr!!!
Who makes $5.25/hr anyway? 6 years ago in high school, I made $6.50/hr at a pharmacy. The minimum wage is worthless. It forces employers to pay more for substandard work. I they paid so bad, no one would work for them. In order to make changes like this, shouldn't you prove that the problem exists and it widespread??? I want to see all these works making $5.25/hr and those that will benefit from this.
Reminds me of that scene in the movie Bullworth, when Warren Beaty is telling the black church in Compton why he doesn't care about them...
Yeah, the RSC is great.
I did hear Rush say yesterday that he heard Republicans are going to push for a minimum wage increase and try to make it their issue. He said more to come on that later.
If they do, I guess I'll have to re-register as an Independent.
I suppose you're free to think that, but you're wrong.
Price controls, including those on labor, always, always cause more problems than they solve, usually to the opposite effect of the goal of the controls. If you really had read Basic Economics, you would have read many examples of that fact.
You said: I disagree with this. I would like to see the minimum wage indexed to inflation with yearly increases to reflect this.

How about if we index the increases/decreases in minimum the minimum wage to increases/decreases in the productivity of the average entry level worker? My bet is that the minimum wage would decrease, not increase. The quality of workers coming out of high school these days is embarrassing. Very few of them merit $5.25 or more. Those who do get raises to that amount. Those worth less still get a minimum wage, only because the employer needs SOME level of output. Many minimum wage workers are a drag on the bottom line, not a source of profits for employers.
However, like Hizbullah, the Libs are willing to hide behind children (and women, for that matter).

Oh yes, we have our own brand of traitors and cowards amongst us. Sickening, isn't it ??
Hey, guys, check out post #3. Surprise!!!
Hmmmmmmmm......
Charitably, that makes you an economic nincompoop.
I'd be surprised if he was Havoc, who was (and no doubt still is) a raving psychotic.
