Now that Joseph and Valerie Wilson's fantasies of having been persecuted by high officials in the administration have been so thoroughly dispelled by Robert Novak (and now that it seems the prosecutor has determined that there was no breach of the relevant laws to begin with), we may return to the more important original question. Was there good reason to suppose that Iraqi envoys visited Niger in search of "yellowcake" uranium ore?

Oh, Africa is a big country. Methinks Wilson had other reasons for visiting: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1671900/posts
MY Big question is why aren't heads rolling that this dumby sent an unqualified, untrained person (her dimwit husband) to do a spy's job?
Of course this whole entire thing was a coverup for her ineptness of her job of assigning tasks. Her deadbeat husband wanted a cushy job and he got it. Now blowing smoke in the other direction to divert attention to her screw up.
Yes, but I believe that one of his main missions was to discredit the administration with lies and misdirection, leading to accusations of criminal persecution. It remains to be seen whether Joe and Valerie will be hung upside down in the public square like Mussolini and his mistress (minus the predicate executions, of course). However, we can hope that the tide is turning against these sorry people.
I was just thinking the same thing!! Very intriguing!!
OK, folks. The shows over. Everybody move along. Nothing to see here.

Re#4 Yep. Of course it was. That said, I don't know if the handlers figured in the Jefferson factor. Interesting, to say the least...
Africa's not a country. It's a continent.
D'hop! *slapping forehead* Quite right. Thanks. Gotta love this place. Accuracy matters. Unlike the MSM....
That depends on whether it's a three act play or a five act bloody Shakespearean tragedy. Personally, I'd like to see Lady MacPlame and her general get their due. Bring on the fake blood! By the gallons.
No problem. Didn't want to seem schoolmarmish.
I'm packing to head back home. Taking one last trip around FR for a while.
Interesting theory in your link, however.
Nice - but the left doesn't care.
It's OK, Joe Wilson has been sanctified by the MSM so nothing will ever discredit him. He could molest young boys on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and the MSM would still cover for him......... if they aren't on to his lies and frauds by now they never will be.
No prob. Appreciated it. Have a good day. And yes, it is interesting. Jefferson was not alone in his, um, endeavors. ;^)
Key point here. The fact that Wilson spoke of these forgeries in the context of a time frame when neither he, nor anyone else in either Washington or London could have had access to them raises the question... How did Joe Wilson even know about them? The forgeries can be plausibly assumed to have originated with French intel and the French who run the Niger yellowcake industry surely have motive to disinform. The question is, was Wilson (or were The Wilsons) working with French intel?
Ms. Wilson #1 was a French spook, after all.
It must have pained Slate to post this missive from Mr. Hitchens.

Very interesting.
