parody:
International journalistic standards took a perilous turn today as the Daily Mail (UK) published an online article decrying the headbutting of a horse in Great Britain. Unfortunately for the publication, they also provided a link to video of the incident - a video that clearly calls into question the reporter more so than the offending jockey. Posters on the news site blogged breathlessly about how cruel the jockey must be, and begged for his ejection from the sport.
I saw this on TV, and predicted the reaction. There are probably folks out there (who probably collectively know less about horses that this jockey) who think he should have reasoned with the horse.
Zidane lives!
I saw this on Fox and Friends this morning as well, and it was a mild tap of the brim of the Jockey's helmet onto the bridge of the horse's nose. If it had any force at all, the jockey's helment would have moved, which it did not.
Tiki even said he head butts his son harder than that!
I would think twice about ever head butting a horse.
Horses use their huge heads as weapons, pushing others around, especially humans.
The jockey apologized for his head butting, it is reported in the news today.
You're absolutely right. The horse understood why he was head butted.....and clearly deserved the pain.
If people would get 'outraged' at real problems, rather than this kind of minutia, they would be better off.
because he did nothing wrong and shouldn't have to answer any questions about it
these are the same people who enjoy and will fight to the death in defending their right to FOX HUNT and allow a creature who at best weighs 5-6 lbs be torn to sheds for sport
Funny how this guy's name, Zidane, will live on like this anytime one perform a head butt. He will not be remember for the great player he was, but for this. That is a shame.
Why did he apologize for his action then, if he did not do anything wrong?
to keep from being banned by a bunch of weirdos who think that was an act of cruelty. come on, use common sense.
Thanks for the video. The horse didn't seem to notice it. I wouldn't call that exactly a head butt.
susie
Oh, good grief! Any FReeper horse people want to relate what to do when your horse bloats while being saddled? I'll give a little hint - it involves a knee...
every time i hear someone complain about this so-called act of cruelty im going to kick my cat!
I'd say it's time to get a back-hoe and bury him.
No sense in beating a ... Well, you know.
