AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - July 2006 is on track to be the hottest month in the Netherlands since temperatures were first measured in 1706, the Dutch meteorological institute KNMI said on Tuesday.

Average daily temperatures in the first 24 days of July were a record of 22.3 degrees Celsius (72.14F) compared with the previous record of 21.4 degrees in July 1994 and normal average temperatures of 17.4, the KNMI said.

"July 2006 is the hottest month ever," it said in a statement.

That's the key. Weather runs in cycles. I believe the people fueling this craziness knows that well. They count on the ignorant masses to grab their illogical rant and run with it.

That and marshalling the argument for global controls which eventually become political ones.

Global warming is correlated with the rise of terrorism. maybe bin Laden left the door open the last time he visited hell.

That too. Leftists use global warming as a convenient excuse to push socialism.

This is not happening in a vacuum. Odds are that Belgium, Luxembourg, Britain, France, and Germany are flirting with similar record heat.

this logic is lost on me...and i typically ace logic tests.

That's because it's math based, and when it comes to math there are 3 types of people:
Thaose who can and those who can't do math... ;)

So how do they explain the hot temperatures 300 years ago?

Please, no facts or good questions. We're dealing with feeeeeeeelings here.

300 years ago Europe was coming out a a mini ice-age. Maybe, the Gulf Stream had been diminished during that ice-age. It has been up ever since. Hans Brinker was skating on the Zider Zee, something they haven't done for a long time now.

Exactly. It's folly to think that man has anything to do with all of this.

300 years ago is 1) when they started taking temps, and 2) the middle of the Little Ice Age. By picking a low starting point, they can make the rise more dramatic.

That's nothing. A few years ago the LSM had "THE HOTTEST DAY IN 50 MILLION YEARS!!!!" The next day most of them retracted their statements a little with statements about how measuring wasn't really very accurate going back that far (only because so many people called in about it). One person who didn't retract his declaration of doom? Yep, Dan Rather.

You could hardly call it "global warming" when we've merely caught up to where we were three hundred years ago.

Quite simply, anybody who points to the current heat waves in various places as "proof" of Global Marming doesn't even understand their own hyposthesis and may be dimsissed with a wave of the hand.

The hypothesis is that the globe is warming up very slowly -- a small percentage of a degree per year and that it is a slow trend. So you don't even have to deal with the preposterous notion of whether it is human-accellerated (I think they are finally coming around to agreeing it is part of the planetary cycle).

Wasn't last winter one of the coldest in decades in Europe and N. Asia?

I remember reading that Siberia and China were colder than in many yrs.

Guess it averages out.
