Just jumping in here. I just heard on Fox that Tony Snow said that the US is sending more Troops to Iraq because of the failed Iraq security measures in Baghdad.
Excuse me while I contemplate the fact that this might be some sort of sign to Iran that we are kicking it up a notch for their sakes. Just my first thought.

I haven't seen one. However, as I understood it from Brit Hume's show, these are not additional troops being sent to Iraq, but rather troops stationed elsewhere in the country who are being reassigned to Baghdad to help with the security there.
actually the troops are going to be sent to baghdad from other areas of Iraq.
That seems possible, but I think they're just trying to keep Sadr from becoming the next Nasrullah and Iraq from descending into civil war or anarchy.
I would attribute the additional troops to Al-Maliki's visit here...and the fact that Abizaid said that the "cleaning out of Baghdad" wasn't going fast enough.
