is The Open one tournament and there's a separate British Open, or is there only the one tournament?

The British Open's real name is the Open Chanpionship since
that is where Golf originated. But since there is a US Open also.
It's called the British Open here so the casual fan can tell the difference.

There is only one tournament of that name The Open - I was not being awkward but just for historical record advising the correct name.

I believe it was the first Open Tournament or as it is called Championship and therefore is just the Open the other countries but their name in the title to distinguish the tournament.
