Uhhh... it is a society that is so small that EVERYONE must come to her defense when in need. They've already learned the lesson that women in the front lines is more problem than it's worth, but they cannot afford not to have the women serve.
Especially in the Middle East, aren't there like 300 million rabid Arabs with only about 7 million Jews in Israel?
