Washington state health officials will soon start asking detailed questions about the health of some state residents and even give them brief physical exams.
The door-to-door survey of 1,100 randomly selected households across the state will try to learn more about our health, and especially about our risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes, to better target preventive educational programs.
"We want to get a snapshot of [residents'] health ... and if we can't prevent the diseases, have early detection of them," said Dr. Juliet VanEenwyk, state epidemiologist for noninfectious diseases.
The Washington Adult Health Survey is sponsored by the state Department of Health and is designed to gather a cross section of state residents. The survey will begin late this month and will take about a year, VanEenwyk said.

Participants will be given a $45 gift card for their help in the survey. Officials are not seeking volunteers; participants are being chosen to represent the diverse population of the state.
The survey is being financed by an $800,000 grant from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Kansas and Arkansas also were awarded survey grants.

Ya think?????????
I predict that the poor, those without health insurance and chronic complainers will be over-represented in the study. It will be weighted more heavily toward those who can be bribed for $45 and those who just like to whine about things.
Judge Orders Teen to Cancer Treatment
Breitbart.com ^ | 7/21/06 | Sonja Barisic
A judge ruled Friday that a 16-year-old boy fighting to use alternative treatment for his cancer must report to a hospital by Tuesday and accept treatment that doctors deem necessary, the family's attorney said.
For those in Rio Linda, that means the results will show the need for more government intervention.
Wow. Over two hundred years ago somebody was thinking about such things.
Sometimes the guy wearing the tinfoil hat turns out to be right...
How much do you want to bet one of the questions is "Are there any guns in the house?"
Ooh, this one burns me up. I got asked this at my kids' appointments. I lied and said 'no', but pretty soon they will start speaking up for themselves and it will look bad if I say no and they pipe up with 'what about all those guns in Daddy's safe?' Why is it any of their (the doctors' business? How do I (or we) know that they won't pass this info (or have it stolen) on to someone- either shady characters that now have a list of 'unprotected' homes or govt agencies that will put you on the 'kook list'?
We have the right to tell yellow vested folks who show up at our doors and want blood and hair samples to pound sand, but the thing to watch for is when we lose that right, and that ball is still in play...I hope.
Yeah, but simply refusing to participate will probably flag you as a 'kook' to be watched for further signs of non-conformity and conservatism! You should see the looks I get when I politely decline to give out my phone number when making a purchase in a store! One clerk (early 20's) got all snotty on me and said 'Well, then I guess you don't want to get all our great coupons and deals,'. to which I said 'getting a few coupons is not worth having my cell phone number on a marketing list'. She still couldn't believe it. She started to ask me something else and then stopped and said 'oh, that's right, you don't want to give out your number' like it was my last chance to get in on a really good deal.
This is how they do it. They get into our lives thru drug laws and anti-cigarette laws. Then they get into our cars with no-cellphone laws. Then they try no smoking in cars with kids. Then they find a way to get into your home illegally with the pretext of your health. They they move past your health to your guns, your anti-abortion views, your anti-sexual-minority views until they have completely taken over your right to act, think and speak. Notice that this sort of thing happens first in "liberal" areas such as SF, Oregon and Washington state.
I simply tell them flat out it's none of their business!
I think such a case is needed, because it's going to have to be determined eventually.
I agree. And it's a case that needs to/should be won, nip this crazy crap in the bud.
I agree. The fact that folks are "chosen" is just downright creepycreepy.
Well, presumably they'll be "chosen" in the same way as an opinion survey - randomly. As long as it's completely voluntary, I got no problem with this stupid project because I ain't payng for it (unless it's federal funds). The problem is, the only people who won't tell them to go to hell will be liberals; that could skew the results since liberals are all mentally ill!
Then they'll probably return with the cops and an arrest warrant. Remember that in the "new" America, all perceived threats are now illegal.
