Lebanon's defense minister has said the Lebanese army will join the battle to defend Lebanon if Israel launches a ground invasion. (AP)
Bye Bye whatever is left of Beirut.
You get the impression that this Israeli offensive is not very well thought out. They should have done some quick bombing and immediately sent in the ground troops.
Think carefully before choosing sides,Lebanese Army.
What a bunch of cowardly idiots. They'd rather fight Israel than take their country back from terrorists? I have no patience or compassion for stupid people.
If they're anything like the French army, I don't think Israel has much to worry about.
EVeryone is saying that, but I think they were cautious at first because they didn't know exactly what they were up against...
This is the same formula that they've used before. Hit hard with air and then the ground troops come in later.
I find this utterly amazing. If they really were interesting in reclaiming their country, this would be their opportunity. So, I have to assume that they are in sympathy with Hezbollah, unless there's something I'm missing here.
If they have an army to fight Israel, they had an army to fight Hezbollah.
The Lebanese army has volunteered to die at the side of Hezbollah, and so shall they receive their reward.
I think it's becoming increasingly evident the current Lebanese leadership isn't as opposed to Hezbollah as they would like everyone to believe.
LGf has a thread on this, some pretty good comments: http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=21660_Lebanese_Army_Will_Join_Forces_with_Hizballah&only (Click the show comments link to see them)
Personally, I think that they started out with the idea that this would be a small operation to free the abducted soldiers, but it just ballooned, and they were not prepared to deal with it.
Well, that interview pretty clearly proves that he wasn't in the bunker and he's still alive and kicking.
He's a marked man....It's a matter of time and some one will rat him out...
Once a muslim always stupid.
They are "shaping the battlespace" my friend, just like the USAF did twice in Iraq. It will take as long as it takes.
"I think it's becoming increasingly evident the current Lebanese leadership isn't as opposed to Hezbollah as they would like everyone to believe."
I think that the Lebanese leadership's supposed opposition to Hezbollah was taqqiya, plain and simple.
The Lebanese Minister of Defense warned Israel Thursday that if IDF ground forces are sent into southern Lebanon, Lebanese troops will fight along with the Hizbullah against Israel.
