It appears that Ladd is happy with his new cattle fence

So when illegal immigrants began once again to cross his ranch near the end of 2005, Ladd was ready to give the Minutemen another chance — though he wasn’t interested in the 14-foot, Israeli-style barrier the group was pushing.

“They have to be more aware of how they present themselves,” Ladd said of the Minutemen. “They’re doing a good job, but they should put up a picture of our fence (on the group’s Web site). The Israeli design just gives the critics fuel.”

When he tried to get federal authorities to fix the fence, Ladd said he was told barbed wire was useless in stopping human traffic, and so the government was not interested in replacing it.

I'm confused here. I don't know why the Minuteman fence is better than the barbed wire fence Ladd already had that was being cut regularly. Indeed, the Minuteman fence has already been cut, according to news reports, but Ladd says it's working?

“I told them, ‘If you want to put up a barbed-wire fence with a vehicle barrier, let’s do it,’ ” Ladd said.

I didn't think the vehicle barrier was installed yet? Will a vehicle barrier keep out cows?
