Lebanon should have disbanded Hezbollah 6 years ago. Their lack of action is what is holding Lebanon hostage.
This was arranged well before the war, allegra. Besides, he can do two things at once...he must do so in other areas of his job.
So the question is, why speak there at any time? He has his reasons. He knows he will be bashed by his some of his own supporters for doing so, and still he takes the hit. I admire that, whether I like or don't like his going there.
One thing he has done is to have MANY connections to the Black Community, including the more economically conservative and apolitical evangelical ones.
He might just have the largest, big-picture worldview of any leader in our history. That doesn't always translate well into the here and now or into the public political arena.

When the reports first came out as to how many Americans were in Lebanon, I was astounded. Now, I get it. Sounds like most just happen to have American passports??
