" Maybe the hubbies were/are spending their vacations in a Hezbollah training camp? "

I was thinking the same thing, especially when one "evacuee" stated that he and his group would be going back next summer, for their traditional summer vacation. He indicated this wasn't a week or two it was the summer.

Who can leave their job that long or afford to vacation like that?

These guys are supplemented / paid.

Upcoming on CNN...the "ultimate get" an interview with a citizen of New Orleans, who after spending 3 days stuck in the Superdome after Katrina, moved to Beirut to get away from it all for a while, and clear his head.

Waiting with bated breath.

Hizbollah: Iran sending 3.5 tons of medicine/medical supplies to Lebanon & Palestine

Just how the hell can this be done? I thought all roads were shut down. Wonder what's really packed in these "supplies"

Question for the group...

Re the raid into Lebanon yesterday, when the Israeli special forces were ambushed, and tragically, two killed, by Hezbollah...Could this have been an attempt by the Israelis to snatch a few Iranian soldiers? It sounds more plausible than what's being said..that it was a raid to blow up some rockets..That doesn't really make any sense....the risk/reward for the mission doesn't compute...If they had the location of a rocket site, ortunnel complex that close to the Israeli border, a mortar barrage would have wiped it out in a few seconds. I suspect there is far more here than we've been told..

Could be, and they're returning to to hunker down in the good 'ol USA. Sort of makes the heart beat a little faster, doesn't it?

I dunno, but you're correct that the story didn't make any sense.

>>If it stays anchored off the coast, how are the evacuees going to get on it?

Some likely ways are linked below:

http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/lcac.htm
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/ch-46.htm
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/h-53.htm

And I seriously doubt it is "anchored". Freedom of movement is key for a warship in a semi-dicey environment.

Interesting post. Hard to understand the translation. Let me see if I can clarify the mans thoughts.

The Shiite Persian Leaders tried to lure the Arab Sunni Leaders into supporting an all out war against Israel over the treatment of Hezbollha. The Arab Sunni leaders were forced to make a choice. One path lead to a satisfaction of their ancestral hatred of the Jews by assisting the Hezbollha in taking over Lebanon and eventually Israel. At the end of that path however was a stronger Persian Nation because Hezbollha are the Iranian leaders terrorist. The Iranian leaders were assuming the Sunni's would choose to join the fight against Israel. The other path available to the Arab Sunni's was to put away their ancestral hatred and to deny the Shiites any strengthening.

So perhaps the Iranians are now scrambling to implement plan B.

Then, to top it all off, Michael Savage today even went to the extreme of accusing the Israeli government and the Bush Administration of wanting to prod Iran into a nuclear attack on Israel so that the hundreds of thousand of dead would justify a retaliatory strike on Iran.

Goes to show there are barking moonbats on both sides. Although sometimes I question what side Savage really, really is on.

Yes, they've been marrying (and dumping) American women for decades, but why? Why would they want to marry and have their children by infidels? Aren't there enough insecure burkah clad ME women?

Nashville is a large amphibious vessel. It isn't allowed to dock at Beirut Harbor. They first sent out 40 Marines on a smaller landing craft when they arrived.

Then the Marines helped 300 evacuees per trip get on the landing craft and go back to the boat. They did that 4 times to get the 1200 onboard the Nashville and underway to Cyprus.

Saying that was assuming that all went as expected - I haven't seen a report on it.

**We have a society whose current version of ethics is 'I am the center of the Universe." In such a world, gratefulness really isn't a virtue. But complaining to get more or to whine when you didn't receive what you wanted are virtues, especially when done in front of a TV...**

Sooooo true.
