Iran foreign minister in Syria, discusses Lebanon

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and Syrian officials discussed the confrontation between Hizbollah and Israel on Monday, the official news agency SANA said.
Mottaki, who arrived in Syria on a brief visit, delivered a letter to President Bashar al-Assad from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad expressing support for Syria against any threat, SANA said, in reference to Israel, which is bombarding Lebanon.
Syria and Iran are the main backers of Hizbollah

I believe chirac sees himself as a human shield. The Israeli's would never send a missile to a high level meeting attended by the terrorist players. chirac would be their guarantee that they could meet in safety.

Meetings at this level seem to have two basic styles:
In Syria: How can we escalate this (cause more Israeli deaths)?
In Israel: How can we de-escalate this?

The Israeli government should say they are now talking to the Lebanese government to help them eradicate Hezzbollah. That would cause quite a stir and bring a few heads up out of the ground. PSY-OPS!!!!
