Excellent points. Newt does adore the sound of himself pontificating:) He does what I do sometimes...REACT..before I ponder. He was disgraceful during Katrina. It's one thing to pick up the phone and say, Mr. President...I have some advice..it's another to do it on the public airwaves.

I have a whole list of people who lost my support and purchases after Katrina. I also have some who lost it for other hot-button issues over the winter.

I got to the point where the only person I could listen to was Tony Snow (even bought XM radio in order to hear him) and then he went to work for the White House! LOL!

I find I do much better reading FR. I can listen to the pundits only when I am on FR as well.

In the first scenario, you would actually be trying to be of some help. In the second, you would be trying to get some publicity for yourself by the surefire tactic of saying something ugly about the President. Choosing the second does not speak well of his character, no matter how smart he is.
