Oh, thanks. I take back the "morons" I called my TV newspeople.
If I recall correctly, didn't the Israelis purchase some MOABs or other such bunker busters from the USA? Time to test and see how well they work....
Fox saying there was a four stage plan by Israel (and we only know the first two stages; 3rd about to begin):
Stage 1: started the first day of all this, hitting bridges and airport, etc.
Stage 2: (started Friday) hitting Hezbollah targets in Beirut (south are, etc.)
Stage 3: supposed to just be starting today
Stage 4: the last stage...starting ? (they don't know)
Or rather the last two stages not being released right now.
It was because of the lessons of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that we won't use them unilaterally again.
As far as using that scenario to counter my statement, we didn't have the sophisticated weaponry back then that we have at our disposal today.
With today's smart weapons and missles, we wouldn't be faced with an invasion option so described.
Just my opinion.
F&F talking to someone stranded now - by phone.
Well they may not have been this time, but I somehow suspect that they're not so accurate much of the rest of the time...if it's anything like most of the reporting has been :-) LOL
The sirens have been going off for days. The missile count at last report is over 800, and the sirens go off for many areas when inbound missiles are detected, not just the area where the missiles land.
I'm seeing video on NBC that looks a lot like secondary explosions in Lebanon, and there was a report that Israel has intelligence on Hezbollah missile stockpiles.
Well, that is NEWS. I didn't mean that stuff.
I hope I'm right too.
And please...take care over there...and come home safely. Because as sure as I am in my opinion regarding the United States and Israel, I hold an entirely opposite opinion regarding Iran.
Yep...the bomb surprises can suck. I'm so glad I come from the USA. I have gained a whole new appreciation for the USA.
(Except that it's kind of boring there....LOL)

If there ever was a doubt what Buchanan thinks about Israel or George Bush, that show last night put an end to it for any person who understands the English languge.
He sounded just like every liberal and every Arab we've heard for the last few days, only meaner; it sounded like he was spitting.
He is a POS.
Well I suppose if they were to premptively hit England, Israel, etc., we might.
Today we have nukes as a deterrant primarily...wouldn't you agree?
Did you hear the clip of Bush talking to Blair? LOL!
It will be interesting to see if the Buchananites on FreeRepublic will step up to defend him.
Oh, OK. I realize we've been a little off-topic. I'm going on very little sleep the last few days (we've all been a tad distracted...LOL) and we're all in "punchy" mode here now.
If I say anything really goofy on here, the above is my disclaimer. :-)
Thanks. Most of it we're just watching out of interest and also concern for friends we have in Israel and Lebanon.
Iran is the factor that has us all a little anxious.
CNN now saying that last rocket barrage into Israel (about half hour ago when the 5 were launched) that one went into Tiberius (sp?) again, but also saying, as Fox did, no casualities reported at this time.
US State Dept estimating that 4,000 of the 25,000 US Citizens would like to evacuate.
They are reporting that they think they will evac a few dozen more today that are "very high priority cases" but that "Wednesday or maybe tomorrow" they will be able to get a boat and do what the French and Italians are and ferry people to Cyprus. But until then, they need to continue to wait.

Fox has State Dept person telling everyone that their loved ones need to "stay put" in Beirut. Do NOT try to travel out another way. "Stay in place" and give them information about how to contact them IN Beirut. Also saying they estimate a small percentage of the 25,000 will want to leave.
So far it's been a few embassy folk (non-essential/family), some unaccompanied students, people with young children or those with health care needs that have left.
They are NOT in evacuation status yet in Lebanon.
