That's true...but we can't act militarily against the Liberals in the US.

Lob a couple of these their way. Better sooner rather than later.

Truman was looking at having to send troops against a populace of fanatics. Fanatics that didn't think twice about launching suicide attacks.

Fanatics that loved beheading people. Why should Japan be the only country that has had nukes used against them? Expand the club membership. /s

Hmmm. Even if we started prosecuting treason again?

Shalom.

Strike Syria and slowly twist the knife. Iran will have to step in or look weak.

But how would Iran link up with Syria? They can't - thanks to George Bush.

If the US had fully supported the Shah and if the Shah had been able to go after the hardline muslim extremists while cultivating more moderate islamist elements, he might have been able to institute enough reforms to mollify the bulk of the population and remain in power.

Now the people are stuck with a government they don't seem to want run by extreme elements of a religion they are losing interest in. The current regime is a destabilizing element that needs to go. Assad seems like to much of a coward to try to fill the void if IRan is taken out. The Egyptians and Jordanians seem to be willing to let sleeping Israeli's lie.... it would seem then that an elimination of the Iranian theocracy would leave the Wahabbist nuts in Saudi Arabia as the terrorists last best hope.

We may be watching the initial skirmish in the battle that determines the winner in the war on terror.

"Strike Iran, How?

Knock out Iran's oil export infrastructure.

This would be relatively easy to do and would produce minimal civilian casualties. The world would not end. In fact, the world would see that Iran and the other oil bullies are the real paper tigers.

"Liberals are the cause of the present day terrorist government in Iran"

You are correct and Jimmy Carter (the worst President in US history) is one of the biggest liberals in history.

Sounds good to me, but there's a few too many Nancy boys running around in Washington (mainly in the Senate, justice and the intelligence services) for it to happen.

"We may be watching the initial skirmish in the battle that determines the winner in the war on terror"

It's clear from Madeline Albright's comments this morning that she doesn't understand what this war is about. Or maybe she understands very well, and realizes that the taking out of hizbollah in south Lebanon is a victory for the USA and Israel. Since Madeline supports America's enemies, she wouldn't want Hizbollah to be defeated.
Remember, Madeline years ago lamented the fact that the USA was the only superpower. These leftists don't trust American power because they don't trust America. In fact, most leftists hate America and everything she stands for.

Our great President, George W. Bush, understands what is at stake. I think he would accept your proposition that this is one of the initial skirmishes in the battle that will determine the winner in the war on terror.

The leftist hive has thrown in it's lot with the terrorists, so they really have no answer except to scream about Israel. This is one of those defining issues that paint the DemRats as the appeasement "chamberlains' that they are. This will cost them in November.

Iraq declares war on Iran and allows Israel to use Basra as a staging area for air strikes? Yeah, I would agree that is not realistic!

Hmmmm. Politics is the mother of strange bedfellows...

Carter certainly "opened the door". He also took Khomeini's hand and invited him in.

The Shah was anti-communist and jailed and repressed Leftists. He also removed a lot of the mullahs' authority. He was warned that he was taking too much away from the mullahs (like their source of income) and it would result in their preaching against the Shah and garnering support from their followers. The resulting backlash from the conservative and fundamentalist muslim community, and the Soviet-lead movement against the Shah, are what brought the situation to the doorstep.

I been following pretty close and read some of Jane's reports and I'm also hanging out on the gun boards with a bunch of current/ex military.

Israel has no long range bombers.

What they do have has range limits of about 1800 miles and 2100 miles. This assume good conditions and cruising altitudes.

They would have to fly low and fast to not get detected. That reduces range dramatically. You would end up with zero time over target.

They have no refueling facilities or craft.

Bottom line, it would be almost impossible for the Israelis to directly attack Iran without help. If they get help, it will be assumed the USA did it and put us at open war with Iran.

It isn't that we couldn't roll over them almost like Iraq, it is occupying a country with several times the population.

God, Iran will swarm into Iraq ONLY if it has nuclear weapons. To do otherwise who be foolish and result in massive destruction of their people and army.

Syria doesn't share a border with Iran...Iraq is in the way...I don't think we can or should allow Israel to use Iraq as a platform for exerting power...unless this thing escalates exponentially to the point where clear global lines are drawn.
