I'm sorry, I don't understand your point?
-----------------------------------------
google 'cia operation ajax'. The CIA AAR has been declassified. You might change your mind.
Once again your ignorance is showing.
What "force" was used to install the Shah?
None.

Learn some history.
Sam, don't waste your time. He won't answer you, because he has no answers, only opinions rooted in ignorance.
Well, maybe he will allow himself to be enlightened.
I wasn't the person who said you shouldn't blame Carter.
I'm the poster who called Carter a bloomin idiot.
I know. I was responding to wtc911 because he was telling us all not to blame that stupid Carter. I mean, that blooming IDIOT Carter.
Has anyone read these two recent articles ?
1. Iran's Stake in Mideast Crisis - By Azadeh Moaveni/Tehran:

2. Options for U.S. Limited As Mideast Crises Spread:

Yes. The second article, Anti BUSH rhetoric in disguise, once again basically says that we have no control or say of what goes on there, that we need to do what every other American, including Reagan has said to do, which is to rein in Israel.
Thank God for Bush.
I say GOOD! Israel can defend itself. We don't need to butt in now. Let them kick ass...
The first article basically says that Iran is taking a big risk. Hizbollah and Hamas are a rag tag bunch.
Syria as a hand full of out dated out of parts planes, several tanks....but would be wiped out, and I mean wiped out by Israel.
Israel knows what it has to do, and it will do it.
The geopolitics of the Mideast during Reagan & cold were era were vastly different.
Israel, if she knows what is good for her now and she does, won't restrict herself this time. At least, not as easily as 'they' think.
I also see parts of the second article, possibly and perhaps inadvertently, offering certain other options which maybe open to considerations.
As for the first article, to me, it doesn't say much that we don't already know, but, I believe we shouldn't dismiss or easily put to the back-burner the idea that Ahmadinejad does not miss his opportunity to bolster his popularity where he thinks it will count.
I don't necessarily believe it either. But, it is good to scan what they say, even for their flaws :-)
This Iranian has played his first card. I think he is sadly going to be mistaken as to the resolve of Israel and its people.
I wouldn't call him an 'Iranian' - baboons aren't indigenous to Iran, as far as I know :-)
I think he is sadly going to be mistaken as to the resolve of Israel and its people."
I agree. At least, I very much hope so.
We should help them!
If Iran invaded Iraq the US would own the air in less than 48 hours and their ground troups would be sitting ducks.
Israel just took delivery of a bunch of extended-range F-16I's (hmmm...wonder what those were built for?) If they tank up over Iraq they should have little trouble turning Iran into glass...
See post #111.
As for the second article, it mainly focuses on showing restraint as part of 'limited' U.S. option. I think the U.S. has exhausted her so-called 'limited options' for purely scolding and restraint.
Post #14 in this thread maybe of interest in terms of other options.

Also, there is a very good article there, if you haven't already seen it.
