Very troubling escalation if this "threat" is carried out.

Folks the pucker factor just went thru the roof.
Respectfully, Dog, the pucker factor here has remained at nearly constant levels throughout this crisis.
When you make a habit of deliberately and regularly confronting the worst case possible, then reality usually arrives as a bonus, much more pleasant than what you planned for.
This could go nuclear.
It won't go nuclear here, with the infinitesimally possible exception of one or two population centers.
We cannot lose, if it comes to a fight, but we can ensure that our enemies cease to exist. That is the unalterable bottom line.
Your reasoning is sound, but it assumes a lot. I guess in a sense Muslim/Arab states have responded to geopolitics in the sense when they realized they would not be able to take on Israel conventionally they have resorted to unconventional means (development of wmds and creation/support of terrorism networks) The next question is will they get the point the world (well at least Israel and the US) won't stand for these unconventional methods much longer. I think they will need to be heavily prodded for the picture to take hold
I'm glad they're listening to my suggestion. ;^)
And Iran has supplied the Hizzes 200 of them..
They NEED their fruits and veggies! LOL
Jane Harmon is on Face the Nation, trying her best to blame Hezbollah's attacking Israel on Bush.
Full article is here:
Good analysis.
They now intend to bomb anywhere and everywhere that the missiles come from, civilian or not so citizens need to clear the area.
I'm glad they're listening to my suggestion. ;^)
This won't do it, boot on the ground are necessary or else we will be doing this again in a few years (see Gulf War I and II)
the only realistic way to see the arab-israeli conflict is that it is a zero sum situation. period.

my understanding is Hizbullah only has 20 of them
Ok, you worry that this man will not stay the course.
My worry, backed up by all recent indications to date, is that he is prone to escalate the kidnapping of three persons into a global crisis, and that he may not have the seasoning necessary to walk the very fine line between rsponding intelligently, and stepping too far over the line to ensure what is now, only a possibility.
He gave the Syrians a 72 hour ultimatum.
What say we suspend this discussion until the man is no longer bound by honor to avoid striking his enemies?
Now dont we ALL know that EVERYTHING is Bushs fault?
I stubbed my toe this am, that is Bushs fault too.
Convenient, eh?

CNN reporting that a "live" (I think that's what they said) speech to be given by Nasrallah soon.
Not caught up yet on this thread, so I'm not sure if he's supposed to be alive or dead, or injured.
The division was setting up command posts along the northern border, while tanks and armored personnel carriers were being transported northward.
Interesting..
In the content of UN and superpower meddling that is true.
Bombing the TV station 3 times and Hez headquarters 3 times after they've been theoretically destroyed doesn't seem to be the way to impress Hez methinks.

"Now dont we ALL know that EVERYTHING is Bushs fault?"
Well, except hemorrhoids, those I blame on Congress.
