Developing . . .
Correct!
I am mostly a lurker, but I read FR faithfully. I have never been on a thread where lugsoul was posting where he/she was not trying to instigate an argument with someone - a serial thread highjacker. Most irritating when the subjest of the thread is of worldwide importance.
Beirut Airport being attacked again,.....
From the perspective of fire, water is an evil because it destroys fire.
Water, by itself, is good. Fire, by itself, is good.
Just punishment, by itself, is good. The person receiving the punishment, however, considers it an evil, because it will cause pain. So all things created, are absolutely good in the eyes of God, who IS goodness. ("He looked and He saw that it was good"). But a scorpion is evil to you and me because it could poison us. How we perceive things is flawed by our concupiscence, which leads us to harm others in order to reduce the intensity of punishment of our own sins.
God's going to dump a lot of people into the Lake of Fire...Is that evil???
Those who go into the Lake of Fire have BECOME evil. Their separation is just, not evil.
So, yes, God does whatever He wants. But whatever He wants, by definition of His very being, can only be good. That's the very nature of the contradiction (to our human logic) of the cross. We look at the cross and see Jesus become sin. Tortured and suffering. An appearance of evil. But by mounting that cross, God justified those who would accept His mercy. Absolute justice is an absolute good. God willed good in willing the cross for Jesus:
1 Corinthians 1:18
"For the word of the cross, to them indeed that perish, is foolishness; but to them that are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God."
Thus, the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, wherein the flesh of Christ pulled violently in opposition to His divinity, which willed to go forward in accepting our punishment and His own ignominious death.
In the Old Testament, God was instrumental in helping His people kill a lot of women and children...Is that evil??
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by being "instrumental". You could extend that out and wonder why He created the universe at all, since He knew so many would perish in hell. At that point, we end up saying that creating the universe was evil to begin with.
the Security Council will vote Thursday evening on a draft Resolution calling at the end of the military operation of Israel in the Gaza Strip and with the release of the Israeli soldier removed, according to the French ambassador, President-in-Office of the institution.

You couldn't quote what you contend is a lie if I gave you ten bucks to do so.
FNC interviewing Jay Footlik who is a witness to the rockets hitting Haifa. You know, those rockets Hezbollah said they didn't shoot into Haifa.
Update: Jay Footlik is a former Mideast advisory to John cut 'n Run Kerry.
I'm still trying to catch up from this morning...FOX is doing a decent job...not covering anything else right now. Even Lindsay Graham says Israel has the right to defend itself...that startled me.
Attacking Haifa is a BIG deal.
And I'm going to ignore the thread hijacking from now on for the benefit of this thread and I apologize for letting it get hijacked to the point it has.
What is happening to Israel is far more important and I'll stick to the topics at hand.
Please, kindly stop. You are creating a major distraction on this thread.
Thanks for the answer...and glad you go here...I was thinking of pinging you, in case you were on a different thread...
You know, I had the thought at one time....that even though he made a lot of Israelis and Americans mad...that perhaps Ariel Sharon's real intent in turning over Gaza to the Palestinians...is because he knew that Hamas would take it over...and they would be concentrated in a place that would be very easy to "take out" if necessary...
And, that that is one reason that Bush did not come out publicly denouncing it.
It was just one of my crazy thoughts....
ran and Syria are "playing with fire" over the current escalation of conflict in the Middle East and will face the consequences, the Israeli ambassador to the United States said on Thursday. Ambassador Daniel Ayalon, speaking to reporters at a lunch, said Tehran and Damascus are the masterminds behind the escalation for their backing of Hizbollah and Hamas.

UN Security Council to vote on French resolution demanding Israel withdrawal from Gaza
Dang those French!
If someone is going to accuse me of lying - baselessly - I'm going to respond. If you don't like it, don't read it.
Two rockets fired from Lebanon hit central Haifa; Katyusha rockets hit Nahariya, Safed and Carmiel By Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondent, and Haaretz Service Two rockets slammed into the northern port city of Haifa on Thursday evening. The rockets hit the Stella Maris area near French Carmel. There were no reported casualties. Hezbollah denied firing the rockets at Haifa Thursday evening, after a day in which a woman in Nahariya was killed and another 120 people were wounded when scores of Katyusha rockets fired by Hezbollah guerillas rained down across northern Israel.
Following the attack on Haifa, the IDF Home Front Command ordered residents of Haifa, Haifa's northern Krayot suburbs, Acre, Tirat Hacarmel and Nesher to stay near their homes and listen to radios.

Oh, my goodness....I always lose that game when I play with my granddaughter...good luck!! LOL
Oh...crap.
Aren't the French the most pathetic people. Not to sound like Alec Baldwin, but if I lived there, I WOULD move out.
