Developing . . .
Agreed.
. . . when the Assyrians destroyed the Northern Kingdom, was that just "because of the evil decisions of violent men" or because God used them as His instruments to punish Israel's idolatry?
. . . when the Babylonians carried away Judea, was that just "because of the evil decisions of violent men" or because God used them as His instruments to punish Judea's sins?
. . . when the Romans conquered Judea, was that just "because of the evil decisions of violent men" or because God used them as His instruments to provide a stable world in which the Gospel would spread rapidly?
The answer to all of the above is, "yes." For those things which Man does with evil intent, God turns to good (Gen. 50:20).
No. But you have drawn a conclusion that such people authored this report, and you have nothing more than the fact that such people do exist as a basis for your conclusion? Schizophrenics exist, as well. I'm sure you don't dispute that. So why haven't you reached the conclusion that Schizophrenics wrote the Bible? There is just as much evidence for that proposition as there is for yours.
And let me say this. We now have TWO Israeli officials on record saying the same thing about intelligence they've received regarding the kidnapped soldiers.
One nuclear exchange between Pakistan and India could possibly kill more than WW-I and -II combined.
Really? Tell Him that:
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. (Isaiah 45:7 KJV)
The fact of the matter is that God created Satan, so ultimately all "evil" can be traced back to God's will. Do you not believe that God knew from the beginning of creation that WWII would come about exactly as it did and that 50 Million people, including 6 million Jews would suffer death as a result? And yet he let it happen exactly as he knew it would, didn't he? Why? Because ultimately it serves his purposes.
I just don't understand why people will claim they believe in an all powerful God and then claim that nothing that happens is to be laid at his feet.
God destroyed the entire world by flood except for a family of 7 Adults. Is what God did there "evil"?
God not only allowed Joseph's brothers to sell him into slavery, but it is clear that God intended that Joseph's brothers would sell him into slavery and what they intended as "evil", God meant for good. It was God's plan all along.
And ultimately we will see that WWII and everything that happened there was God's plan. That nothing happened which he did not ordain.
Thanks for posting that here...RDTF.
"Makes me wonder if this was sheer stupidity, or done on orders from higher ups. If Israel enters or blows up the mosque, it will get international condemation starting with the UN."
Unlike the USA where the religion part is supposedly seperate from Politics... seems to me the totally ugly mullahs are coordinating events, kind of like Army Generals.. so mosques become places of what? If those IDF soldiers are truly on their way to Iran..big problem!!
Israel can refuel herself. We just have to turn a blind eye. Kinda nice "having" Iraq, ain't it. In some ways.
OH. Well, perhaps it's not then. I just thought I missed a piece.
OT: Our missile test was a spectacular success.

I think the reason why Iran is playing this game is the regime knows they are going down... I think they want to take the country down with them..
It might be confirmed by now, prairie; I haven't heard it today but I'm only listening with half an ear.
The UN is strangely silent at the moment.
I think you're right. I pray you're right.
Lipstick Jihad is a book about the young people in Iran who desperately want the mullahs out and there is some evidence they are losing their grip.
Here, let me settle this now. For a human to even consider he/she may comprehend the actions or motivations of a deity is the ultimate in hubris. Get back to human affairs.
Re post 462; Well said.
Without a doubt. The nukular war we have been expecting for the past 50 years is assumed will be monstrously evil.
A rocket hit on the Israeli port city of Haifa was a "major, major escalation" in the situation, the Israeli ambassador to the United States said on Thursday.
Ambassador Daniel Ayalon was in the middle of a lunch with reporters in Washington when he was told the news. The Israeli army said a rocket fired by Lebanese armed group Hizbollah hit the city.
"This is a major, major escalation," Ayalon said.
Israeli children play inside a shelter in Kiryat Shemona, at the Israeli-Lebanese border, July 13, 2006. Hizbollah guerrillas from Lebanon fired barrages of rockets into nearly 20 towns across northern Israel on Thursday, killing one civilian and wounding 42 others in their heaviest bombardment in a decade.

1) That was a just punishment for Pharaoh, not evil. Anything just is an absolute good. It might be "evil" from Pharaoh's perspective, since it ended up causing his destruction, but not from the perspective of a just God.
2) The just punishment of Pharaoh was the vehicle of the Hebrews' liberation from Egypt - which would lead to another just punishment of Pharaoh when he was destroyed crossing the Red Sea.
God wasn't being evil towards Pharaoh in order to bring about a good. God was doling out Pharaoh's deserved punishment, in order to bring about good - and justice is an absolute good.
Could God have freed His people without hardening Pharaoh's heart? Sure, He could have given Pharaoh a change of heart -- but that wouldn't be just.
