I'm very glad to see that Ms. Irey won't stand by and be besmirched by the likes of Murtha and the innuendo and gutter political tactics of the Democratic Party.
If the publisher of the Tribune-Democrat has any decency at all, he will print Ms. Irey's rebuttal to the despicable accusations that Murtha made and they printed.

I'd still like to know if the Irey campaign just dropped the ball and didn't respond to legitimate requests for a response, or if it was an insincere, last-minute request by the paper.

If the publisher were anything but a shill for the lib/socialists, Irey's side would have been printed at the same time...That's called "journalism" - and the "people's right to know" both sides.
