Building explosion at 32 East 62nd Street. Four story building collapses and is burning. Several people reported trapped in the rubble.

Most likely a natural gas explosion. Least likely in some residential building is a terrorist attack.

Blast Collapses Structure Near Central Park
(CBS) NEW YORK A three-story building in New York City exploded Monday morning, starting a 2-alarm fire which sent firefighters digging for possible survivors.
Reports of a building collapse and fire on 62nd Street between Madison and Park avenues in Mahattan's Upper East Side came in around 8:45 a.m. ET.
There were no details of injuries at this time. Authorities believe people were trapped in the building.
Actually, the lines in a building aren't under much pressure at all. 1/4 psi above atmospheric is common, for the gas piping within a building.
But a leak and a spark can still be really, really ugly.
How many minutes before a freeper rushes to the internet saying it was a terror attack?
Jeeze with all the fire engines going past my building it sounds pretty bad. Hopefully the stupid traffic will move out of the way for them.

That occurred to a house in northern virginia. The ground became saturated with natural gas from where a backhoe nicked a line, and over time, the gas finally made its way through a basement sump crock, over to the water heater pilot light. Decimated the one-year old home and killed the family inside. Gas can be dangerous.
I think I know where Jack Bauer and the CTU unit is right now.

There is virtually nothing in Door County. Nice quiet, sparsely populated resort area.
"It appears to be an explosion, but it's not confirmed," a Fire Department spokeswoman said.
Local media reported it was a three- or four-floor apartment building with some doctor's offices on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
