Wasn't that special election in CA supposed to be the race that set the pace for 2006? Oh yeah, the Democrat lost so now we need another race to set the pace. And when the Dem loses that one, they will find yet another race to set the pace.

Fast-forward 230 years and it is about to become another national cradle - a political one -- for the 2006 midterm elections. What the left actually means:
"Hey, we might actually win this race!"

If President Bush wouldSlam the door on illegal immigrants immediately,Make it clear that he has abandoned all plans to provide Social Security and Medicaid benefits to foreign nationals (which is the height of absurdity) and
Instigate measures immediately to nullify de facto or de jure the Supreme Court's eminent domain decision
He would secure the 2006 and 2008 elections for the Republicans. There is still time but none to waste. The Republican base could still return with wild enthusiasm and bring with it the swing voters.
Are you paying attention, White House Eavesdroppers???

But signs of life have begun to spring within his[Lynn Swann] campaign and he is starting to find his political legs. I'm not seeing this. Whoever is running Swann's campaign doesn't seem to be getting his/her candidate out in front of issues very well, save property tax reform. Swann won the (R) nomination and should have ridden the grounswell of support he had at the time, instead he went on vacation and lost the slim lead he had.
Meanwhile Rendell started running just after the primaries in May and has stuck his name on every commercial for every state program and policy. For lots of PA residents who are grafted to the state for their daily rations, all they have to hear is "Ed Rendell is responsible for your check" and, since they pay no property or business related taxes, they swoon and pull the (D) lever with glee.

This problem for the GOP candidates did not happen overnight; it has been 15 years in the making. The local GOP bosses can no longer deliver statewide candidates and they show signs of down-ballot fatigue. We were just discussing one of these GOP "bosses" on another thread.
No mention of DIANA IREY vs murtha
