Jayski recap since Saturday:
- We'll almost-certainly know who will be driving the Big Brown Truck next year by this time tomorrow because UPS scheduled an announcement; the hot rumor is they're following Dale Jarrett to MWR and Toyota.
- Speaking of sponsorship, the Wood Brothers are having a heap of trouble lining up enough for even one ride next year, much less the planned 2 for Schrader and son Jon.
- Going back to RYR, they've formed an alliance with Team Rensi in the Busch Series.
- Winston Kelley will be running the NASCAR HOF.
- Will Ferrell should be real scared; Wally Dallenbach's class win at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb will likely make the return of "Wally's World" a bit wilder than usual.
- Staying on TNT, the online division re-upped to run NASCAR.com.
- Guess SWimmer finally shouldn't be worried about the rest of the year; his AERO Racing stuff will finally go on sale at the track this weekend.
- Sponsor news part 3 - if Bill Lester goes full-time in Cup next year and stays with BDR, he'll likely have the Checkers/Rally sponsorship.
- Derrike Cope will eventually have competition for seat time from his nieces at McGlynn Motorsports; they hired twins Amber and Angela as development drivers.
- Dr. Z presided over the "first date" of Evernham Motorsports and F1's McClaren team as part of his announcement that DaimlerChrysler will remain active in both NASCAR and Formula One.
- Speaking of F1, Jacques Villeneuve may be headed to stock cars if he doesn't get an F1 ride next year.
And from
BGNRacing.com -
- Penalties from Daytona were finally announced, and it wasn't a good day for the Harvick family:
- Shane Wilson, the #21 crew chief, is gone for the next 6 races and fined $15,000, Happy loses 50 drivers' points, and Richard Childress loses 50 owners' points on the 21; all for a heap of unapproved rear-end treatments found after qualifying.
- Gene Nead, the #77 crew chief, is also gone for 6 races and lighter by $15,000, Burney Lamar loses 50 drivers' points and DeLana Harvick loses 50 owners' points on the 77; all for a trick shock found after the race.
- Mark Durgin (crew chief on the 43) and Dave Fuge Jr (crew chief on the 34) each lose $5,000 for a trick air filter housing found in pre-qualifying inspection, while Rick Gay (crew chief on the 10) loses $2,500 for an unapproved vent near the "A" post found in pre-qualifying inspection and Marc Reno (crew chief on the 1) loses $2,000 for an illegal fuel cell vent tube found during opening day inspection.

It was rumored a while back that should UPS announce they are leaving RYR, Robert Yates would show DJ and UPS the door immediately.
So DJ now needs a ride.
Hello DEI and the #15 car.
What's so silly about that?
