I went through basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas in the fall of 1952. My Tactical Instructor was SSGT Murphree and it took me just about two minutes to begin questioning his ancestry. AF Basic training lasted about three months at that time and by graduation day, I believe we all had developed a much more favorable opinion of SSGT Murphree, I know damn well I had.
Our paths never crossed again during my twenty year career and I am sorry I never had a chance to say "Thank you Sgt Murphree".

The honor is mine - we all owe a lot to twenty-year men - the rest of us pass through on our way to something else - you stayed with it. Thank you for your service.

She is just unbelievable...and so much the two year old!
She talks up a storm, knows exactly what she wants, can usually convey same to her parents - and hollers when they don't understand! - and we discovered something really funny.
I don't know where this came from, maybe she watched Casablanca with her Momma...but now, when she is very determined or angry, she talks out of the side of her mouth! She purses her lips on the right side of her mouth, and talks out the left side! We were up on the jungle gym on Tuesday and we were pretending to be in a storm - she kept hollering out directions like "grab the steering wheel" and 'Hold on, Poppa, don't blow over!"
What a little darlin'!
