The NEW Townhall.com... whadda ya think?(Vanity)

Well, I kind of thought the new Townhall.com would be just a shill site for the Salem radio hosts. Since Salem Radio bought the townhall.com site, it looks like it has become just that.

But what do you all think?

Now, don't get me wrong, I like all those hosts. But it seems townhall will be just an extension to the radio shows now.

Also, hughhewitt.com is now all re-done and purty lookin'. Looks like Hewitt's former webmaster lost a job as his site is now an adjunct to the townhall site, too.

So, who has visited the new site?

I saw Bill Evans play at Town Hall. I also saw Sonny Rollins at Town Hall.

The site looks good, but they need to increase server capacity and fix the continual "page not found" and "service unavailable" I ran into today.

I actually like the appearance and layout of the new site. The old layout looked like a pre-installed Front Page template.

I feel sorry for the folks that don't have any checks in their rating box.

The new Townhall site looks good except the articles won't load. Tried repeatedly with no success.

I went there this morning and thought it was awesome. I especially like that you can get free podcasts of radio shows. I did have some trouble downloading things but I'm sure the bugs will get worked out.

After waiting a few days to give them a chance, I've decided that the new townhall format has taken one of the most useful sites on the internet and turned it into another web based monument to the human ego.

It's now a useless collection of cutesy gifs and 'hot news' categorizations with no cake under the icing.

I used to go there every day, but now I'm through with it. I can get banner ads and useless junk anywhere on the web, and don't need them for it.

I am starting to edge to your position. Not quite yet, though.

I started a blog with their new blog service and it is quite basic, without much ability to control your own blog. It has few features and some of the ones it does have still don't work yet.

The site still has tons of bugs and not all pages work yet. Many links still give you "page not found" error messages.

I think it has a lot of potential, though I'm worried about it becoming too commerical with less independent contrarian opinion.

I canot get the podcast feature to work at all. I paste he URL into iTunes as instructed, but I don't sem to get any downloads. Just ablank blue screen that goes inot a 'done' status rather quickly.

They need additional instructions (or to get the function working properly - can't tell where the problem is now).

Does anyone have it working?

It is a terribly slow slow slow slow web site.
It sucks.
I want the old one back.
The print button does not permit changing the font size, so you get tiny print no matter what you do, unless you cut and paste into wordpad and then enlarge it. Stupid.
REALLY STUPID!
I AM VERY TIRED OF WAITING MINUTES FOR IT TO LOAD!!!!!
GIVE ME THE OLD ONE!!!!!!!

When I close the Print window, my computer wants to install the "computer voice reader" which I have not used since I installed and played with 3 years ago.
So about 10 "cancel" clicks and squinting for the damn tiny font ARGH ARGH! Idiot programmers should be shot!!!!

Couldn't get to some pages...

Tried to vote on a column and couldn't tell if my vote was recorded or how to give high or low marks...

Clearly still under construction.

Now all I get is "service not available"
Sigh, another good one is dead and gone.
I guess I'll delete the link and move on.
