Japan could have nuclear weapons in less than 6 months if they wanted too and a functional delivery system soon after.

I think it's an open secret that Japan has a substantial store of nukes right now. They very strongly hinted as much a few years ago.
Japan doesn't need our weapons. They're a "six-week" nuclear power. More like a week if they were in a hurry.
(In other words, they have all the skills, materials, parts, and an ICBM delivery system.)
