There are Christian sects that would rather their baby DIE than receive a transfusion.

Better to lose their body, than their immortal Soul.

You stated,
"There are Christian sects that would rather their baby DIE than receive a transfusion.

Indeed, there are folks who do believe this...I actually had some Jehovahs Witnesses come to my door, many years ago, and normally I just dont converse with them...but at the time, my son was having chemotherapy, and receiving blood transfusions, and I knew that the JWs do not condone anyone having a blood transfusion...they told me, that it would be better for my son to have no transfusions(thus assuring his very quick demise), because it would be better for him to save his immortal Soul(or words to that affect)...

And while working in nursing homes, I have had to care for three Christian Science ladies...they never received any medical care, even when they needed it...all we were ever allowed to do, was take care of them regarding their activities of daily living...medical care was forbidden...even taking their vital signs was forbidden..

And there are all sorts of little independent Christian groups, which use no modern medicine, but rely completely on the power of prayer...

So it is true, that while the majority of Christians do use medical care, and use all modern medicine, there are those who do not...

Ex-wife had me attend several Pentecostal churches in central FL. I was approached by several members who urged me to give up my R&D position so my soul would be saved. Science disproves whats in the Bible, ergo science is Satanic and practicing it is the equivalent of Devil worship. I was told that scientists are never satisfied with what God has provided and they keep thinking they can do better. One even offered me a job as a cook in a restaurant so I could give up science. It was to save my soul, you see. There was even a sermon that essentially said that it is better to be obedient and uneducated than to go to college and earn an education for the ways of this world are not the ways of the Lord. I guess for the church coffers, an ignorant congregation is a happy congregation. As a side note, these members were the worst guests a restaurant could have on a Sunday after services. THey are all hyped up about how righteous they are.

Any group that can find the Tetragrammaton in the Koine New Testament is not seriously deserving to be considered a "Christian sect."
