Overnight Events
Hezbollah rockets struck Haifa multiple times in the largest strike on the town. As many as 8 are dead. Initial reports indicate that the particular rockets used were of Syrian manufacture. Some reports suggest that the intended target were petrochemical facilities.
A larger barrage of short range rockets were launched across most of northern Israel. The concern continues to grow whether or not Hizbollah will follow through with their threat to stike deeper into Israel. One comment made by Hizbollah suggested that they would avoid targeting Israeli nuclear plants.
IAF continues to shape the battlefield in preparation for what must soon to be the ground offensive portion of the war. Some unconfirmed reports that the Hizbollah leader was injured in one of the airstrikes.
Syria appears to have developed a stronger stance against Israel after yesterday doing everything but bending over backwards to avoid the appearance of trying to provoke Israel. Apparently Syria sees the conflict definitiely spreading its way and is getting on war footing. Both Syria and Iran have cranked up their rhetoric.
International efforts to get non-Lebanoniese nationals is on going. The US too will soon join in the efforts. Currently Israel and Hizbollah are not interfering with this effort. It will be dangerous for the US though since it would provide an opportunity for Hizbollah to try to snatch Americans to barter with to leverage the US to put the brakes on Israel.
With all the focus on the north, military operations continue in the south in Gaza. Reports are very sketchy and incomplete.
