My searches didn't turn up much on this. Additional info would be helpful.

Sounds like propaganda...guess we'll see more in a few days. There will always be 'haters'.... and someone to tell their *story*.

There's more than one speedtrap out there, but most of them are equal-opportounity shakedown artists.

I would like to know his party affiliation. That seems
to be missing from all the news stories.
To: VoyagerXII
It's likely no party would claim him.

The mayor sounds like a prize idiot and crook for sure. The writer's comparison to a fictional TV character though is pretty weak. No doubt he gets all his knowledge and thus his opinions of all things Southern from a 30 yr old, fun (if you're 10) silly TV show.

Thank you for the link. However, it just needs to be cleaned up a bit, so go here for
The Smoking Gun link from the beginning with explanation and the Ouster petition.

This reminds me so much of our local politicans. If I were a gambling person, I'd be willing to bet large sums that this guy is a democrat.

I'd guess Democrat. I'm from the county to the south of him (in Nashville) and had neither heard of the guy, let alone his affiliation. I'd figure were he a Republican, it would be emblazoned in the headlines.

When I saw the headline "The real-life Boss Hogg faces his legal hazards" I naturally wondered what Jimmy Naifeh had done now.
To: Paddlefish

My thoughts exactly. They don't know we already have our own megalomaniacal demogogue tyrant. This guy is just a two-bit Mayor from a spot on the map.

Tyrant...the very word I worked hard to avoid but there it is. I asked you before but is there anything anyone can do to rid us of this
(for those not in the know Mr. Naifeh is Tennessee's Democrat Speaker-uh-duh-Hizzee and habitually ignores Robert's Rules Of Order, civil behavior and common decency while overlording legislation for his party's advantage)
evil, megalomaniacal stain on Tennessee's political reality.

When I saw the headline "The real-life Boss Hogg faces his legal hazards" I naturally wondered what Jimmy Naifeh had done now. Now that was funny. Naifeh is about the most arrogant of them all IMO or at least my dealings with his office staff left me with that impression. You can not contact the man even though he is State Speaker of the House unless you are in his district. No calls no letters. This from the man who controls what gets voted on and what doesn't. He and Wilder will have to be surgically extracted from their seats if ever voted out of office.

Other allegations include violating child labour laws by employing his stepson and the son of a local alderman to mow grass, then allowing the teenagers to herd cattle using a patrol car,Now that's the one thing in this story that actually sounds pretty cool. Otherwise, this guy is a total jackass.
