Well, the funds are "there"; it's just a matter of how much of a deficit we are willing to tolerate. I fear that if we keep on borrowing lots of money and keep running high deficits, that in the future, the dollar might collapse. Especially if we see a Peak Oil scenario - dollars have no inherent value.

If we spend money on the troops or not, the dollar is going to crash. To much "easy money", to many bad loans that are going to fail, and if the oil dollar becomes the oil Euro, all heck will break loose.
Guess what I mean is we as a nation need to decide if we are in a war or not. If we are, then fight it like a war. If not, then stop pretending.
