[Indian] Navy's spies catch Chinese subs

NEW DELHI: Keeping as it does a watchful eye on the rapidly-modernising Chinese Navy, the Indian Navy has detected, tracked and photographed three spanking new Chinese submarines in the Mediterranean region.

This is the second such instance of remarkable long-range maritime snooping by the Navy this year. Its TU-142M and IL-38 maritime surveillance aircraft had "spooked" a new Chinese destroyer off Yemen's Socotra Island, almost 2,300-km away from the Indian mainland, as was reported by TOI in February.

This time, four of its warships — destroyer INS Mysore, guided missile frigates INS Brahmaputra and INS Betwa and tanker INS Aditya — came across the three submarines being transported on board two carrier "mother" ships transversing through the Suez Canal and Red Sea earlier this month.

"These three Kilo-class submarines, armed with the latest Klub-S cruise missiles, are the last batch of the eight contracted by China from Russia in a $2-billion deal in 2002," said a top source.

"The helicopters aboard our warships clicked their photographs with remarkable clarity. The first five submarines were delivered by the end of 2005.

China, incidentally, had also procured four Kilo-class submarines from Russia in the mid-1990s," he added.

As part of India's policy of maritime diplomacy, the four western fleet warships are on an overseas deployment mission during which they will travel to Alexandria (Egypt), Haifa (Israel), Athens (Greece), Izmir (Turkey) and Tripoli (Libya).

Chinese only make 'peaceful' subs.

These are those new 'quiet' diesel subs we've been hearing about.

I'll bet the US Navy already has the acoustic sigs for these puppies in the database.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the survival time for a Chinese sub crew at war with the US will be measured in days if not hours.

I hope so.

But I wonder what complications might arise

IF

Iran, France, Russia, China et al

sick their subs on ours; shadow ours and pre-emtpively torpedo them prior to launching their ICBMS at the mainland USA?

Worth some prayer, I think.

And I hope we have enough patriots in key positions left to counter the globalist's Machiavellian plans against us.

The US Navy counter sub guys can kill Russian subs in their sleep.

France won't do jack.

Irans subs will be on the bottom before the ChiComs.

Sub killing is something the US Navy excels at. You don't hear about it much but those guys are even better at their jobs than Navy pilots.

It takes a lot more than hardware to make a good sub crew. Witness the latest ChiCom attempt at AWACS. They crashed thir shiny new toy and killed every single one of their most skilled aviators and engineers.

I don't expect their sub crews to fare much better. Watch for at least two of these new Kilos to sink from 'crew error' within a year.

Hope you're right.

One of my Navy officer friends was a sub-chaser.

He was . . . disconfirmed . . . in that role . . . after 2-3 . . . times of destroying one of OUR subs in war games.

But I know they do train to a high performance level. Praise God for them.

These subs were picked up when they were on transport carriers en-route to delivery to the PLAN.Such subs are as easy to pick up as an F/A-22 being delivered on an AN-124.The Kilo & other D/Es are very tricky oppponents given their quietness & these 8 new boats may include a Russian air-independent propulsion unit which gives improved underwater endurance of upto 8 days.

About having accidents, well China has been operating these vessels for nearly 10 years now & they have functioned perfectly well.
