JERUSALEM – If Israel launches a ground assault in the Gaza Strip, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group will attack Israelis with chemical and biological weapons the group has developed, according to a pamphlet distributed yesterday by the Brigades.
But sources in the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, speaking on condition of anonymity, said while the group is attempting to acquire biological and chemical agents, their current capabilities in the field still are mostly primitive.
"With the help of Allah, we are pleased to say that we succeeded in developing over 20 different types of biological and chemical weapons, this after a three-year effort," said the Al Aqsa statement, which was released yesterday and made national headlines here today.
"We say to (Prime Minister Ehud) Olmert and (Defense Minister Amir) Peretz: Your threats of invasion do not frighten us. We will surprise you with new weapons you have not faced until now. As soon as an IDF soldier sets foot on Gazan land, we will respond with a new weapon."
The group claimed it was working to add chemical and biological agents to missiles that are regularly launched from the Gaza Strip aimed at nearby Jewish communities.
The Al Aqsa Brigades, the declared "resistance wing" of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party, is responsible for scores of suicide bombings, shooting attacks and rockets launched from Gaza.
Israeli security officials told WND Al Aqsa's claim of developing more than 20 kinds of chemical and biological agents is "rhetoric." They said Israel has information the group in the past has conducted low-level experiments adding some kinds of chemicals, including cyanide, to suicide belts, but that Palestinian groups currently don't have "serious" chemical or biological capabilities.
They also said Palestinian terror groups currently do not have capabilities to add chemical or biological agents to missiles but that there was a fear some countries, particularly Iran, may be assisting in such efforts.
Sources in the Al Aqsa Brigades told WND the group was experimenting with chemical agents. They claimed they currently have in their weapons arsenal certain agents that can be thrown or shot at civilians in canisters, but they declined to name the specific agents.
One Al Aqsa source said the group's work in Gaza so far has been limited mostly to Al Aqsa members who are studying chemistry at local universities where biological agents are not available and chemical agents are limited.
They said "outside parties" were helping the group add agents to missiles, but would not comment on the current status of the program or name the outside parties.
Palestinian terror groups in the past have discussed adding chemical and biological agents to suicide bomb belts. Mahmoud Abu Tir, a Hamas legislator, was arrested by Israel in the early 1990s and accused of plotting to poison Israeli water supplies.
In a recent WND interview, Abu Tir refused to confirm or deny he was involved in the plot. In 2002, Israeli security forces foiled a plan by Hamas to poison the soda fountain in a popular Jerusalem cafe.
Let's see now. Hypothetical: Palestinians attack Israeli town with qassam style WMD's, thousands killed. Israel responds with mass deportation and the eradication of "Gaza". Egypt gets angry and either 1) breaks Camp David and remilitarized the Sinai but probably will not invade Israel or 2) uses the destraction to invade Lybia to exploit the natural resources knowing nobody, at that moment, is going to use force to stop them.
Iran makes lots of noise but may not be able to deliver just now, however is known to be working diligently on nuclear or chemical long range missiles.
No choice. US and allies have to take out Iranian government and missile projects.
If they don't, and Iran strikes Israel with WMD's killing tens of thousands or even many more (i.e. nukes), Israel retaliates with nukes.
So let's hope it doesn't start, because if it does it has to be finished with the least amount of spread - by cutting off Iran's capability to prevent regional nuclear war.
The Israelis would have to be pretty desperate to nuke Gaza. But I don't think they would need to. For the muzzies to try sliming them would be incredibly stupid. I'm quite certain that the IDF is much better equipped and trained to operate in an NBC environment than hamas, fatah, and the rest of that rabble.

I'd just like to add here, that I have some contacts involved in the political system there, and I (non-military) was saying that I thought that it was a basically sensible idea: defensible borders, clear out Israelis in order to fascilitate bombing if necessary, etc.
I was told that the loss of 'eyes' on the ground, and the political difference of the level of official permission to act made it a totally irresponsible decision.
Meaning, while there were soldiers in Gaza, if they saw something suspicious, or a tunnel, or bombing making signs, they could act upon orders from their commanding officer. But once removed, and a border sealed, they would have to wait until a major provocation to act (basically raising the bar to making any reactive strike an act of war and involving the president). This has been brought home so clearly here. Had Israel still been in Gaza, this tunnel would have probably been discovered before this point.
Anyway, sorry if I didn't understand your post.

Look at a map and the size of Israel & Gaza. They are part of the same tiny land mass. Even battlefield nukes would kill as many Israelis from fallout as would Palestinians from blast/radiation. MAD with nukes cannot work because of geographics is my point. Retaliation should always happen with overwhelming force if WMD is used, but the massive retaliation from Israel would use conventional weapons.

I wouldn't call anyone here at FR a moron. A decision to use nukes on Gaza would be moronic and hence will not happen. Look at the map, Israel/Gaza connected. It would be like Phoenix Arizona nuking Tucson. The radiation would fall back on your own people.
Give me a plane, a crew, six nuclear missiles and I´ll solve the murdering arab s.o.b.s problem; plus an extra for those nazi-Vatican followers!
Israel cannot - must not - give away one single mm.2 of its land!
