Radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh is joking about his police detainment at the airport yesterday for carrying Viagra in his luggage.
"I've been racking my brain. I'm trying to figure out how Bob Dole's luggage got on my airplane," Limbaugh clowned as he opened his national program today. "I told the doctor, I said, 'Look, I'm worried about the next election, not ... .' A misunderstanding. Now, things are what they are."
Former Sen. Bob Dole of Kansas is well-known for his use and endorsement of Viagra, a male sexual-enhancement drug.
The host then changed subjects to discuss his visit Friday to the White House, but later opened his second hour with more jokes.
"The people at Customs were as nice as they could be. They just didn't believe me when I told them that I got those pills at the Clinton Library gift shop, and they told me at the Clinton Library gift shop that it was just blue M&Ms. ... I know a lot of people who don't even need Viagra. [They] just look at themselves in the mirror and the problem's taken -- many of them in Washington, many of them Republicans, too."
Limbaugh was held up for more than three hours at Palm Beach International Airport after authorities found a bottle of pills in his possession prescribed to someone else.
"The problem was that on the bottle itself was not his name, but the name of two Florida doctors," Palm Beach County Sheriff's spokesman Paul Miller told the Associated Press. "He said he had the Viagra in his possession for his use and that he did obtain it from his doctors."
Investigators confiscated the pills, and Limbaugh was released without being charged, though the sheriff's office plans to file a report with the state attorney's office.
"We believe there may be a second degree misdemeanor violation, which is possession of certain drugs without a prescription, because the bottle does not have his name on it," Miller, a former FBI agent, said.
Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, issued a statement noting a doctor had prescribed the drug, but it was "labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes."
In April, Limbaugh and the Florida state attorney, Democrat Barry Krischer, reached a settlement in a long-running prescription-drug investigation of the conservative radio giant, who termed the matter a political witch hunt as well as a "fishing expedition" by prosecutors.
Under the agreement, a single charge of doctor shopping was to be dismissed in 18 months if Limbaugh continues to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and a half years for back pain.
"Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping," said Black at the time, "and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.
"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the state of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during this 18 months, must pay $30 per month for the cost of 'supervision' and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.
"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won."
Viagra's nothing. Now Caverject - that's a real man's ED drug.
Who's his girlfriend? Liddy Dole?
How far left has FOX News gone???? Here's the answer
"Limbaugh's Viagra Arrest"
The FBI guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
"may be"...only because they haven't taken two minutes to call the doctor yet to confirm the obvious. sheesh.
Except that the state gets a lot more of his money.
I caught that too but then realized they are *technically* correct in the sense of "cause to stop".
It maybe technically correct but it's an indication of how bias even FOX News has become using the word arrest instead of detained on the title.
Meanwhile, some kid with 30 condoms full of cocaine resting his stomach slipped right on by.
How did the Palm Beach Sherrif's office become the spokesman for the US Custom's service?
It would be nice to know at what point the PB County Sheriff's office began to speak for the United States Customs Service.
Good thing it didn't last another hour, he would've needed to get medical help...
BLUE M&M'S.........thats a classic.......Rush is the Man.
Michelle Malkin pointed out, "why did they have to say the name of the prescription"? To humiliate...
Now we have to talk about what Democrats are using Viagra. And Ann Coulter will say something outrageous about one of them. And the Left will scream about what she said, that it's "personal" and "mean-spirited".
And on it goes.
This country is bored.
Uncle Sam's dead. It's Big Nanny now.....and you better not piss her off because she's a bitch.
This topic sure seems to have aroused the media's attention today.
Rush keeps screwing up...his plea deal just flew out the window.
