Great post! My favorite Times hypocrisy, though, is how it caterwauls about President Bush being a crypto-fascist and exercising unilateral power to, for example, obtain phone records without a warrant, while arrogating to itself the power to decide "the public interest" and publish state secrets leaked by anonymous sources, whenever it feels like it. If we don't hang that "public interest" comment around Bill Keller's neck and choke him with it, shame on us. Nobody elected him to anything, and the First Amendment does NOT give him the unlimited and unchecked power to decide what is in "the public interest."

>>We learned this year that there is a course of action. A grand jury subpoenas the reporter's notes to learn the name of the leaker. The reporter refuses and goes to jail for contempt.

The question is when will the grand jury be empaneled to act?

The question is why was this not done over the NSA matter?<<

That worked in the Plame case because the government didn't have any reason to be concerned about Thieu conduct in the Plame case coming out - and even then we didn't get the "leaker" - just somebody who contradicted himself at two different interviews.

We don't need to invoke the Alien and Sedition Acts, and we don't need to start prosecuting journalists. We need to force our elected Congress to collectively grow a pair and haul Bill Keller and his pals before them to explain themselves and reveal their sources. Keller has unilaterally usurped their authority and is threatening our entire Constitutional sytem of government. He cannot hide behind the First Amendment if he is called by Congress to explain himself and forced to reveal his reporters' sources. The best attack on the NYT et. al. is to show the American people that a tyrannical press with a political agenda is the biggest threat to our liberty.

How about a massive protest urging those left to cancel their subscriptions?

And the question: Should a prosecutor seek the death penalty against the editors of the New York Times?

Death penalty?  No.  But how about shutting them down and putting all those people out of work  once and for all!

The question is does the Bush Admin have the guts to call the bluff of old gray whore?

It isn't going to happen. Peter King probably knows that too.

The Times will claim innocence because of the inaction. The Times will also watch the President and his AG take it on the chin from those on the right who want action.

Peter Censure-for-Clinton King knows how to play the game and survive.

JMO.

Fox cable is asking for emails from listeners to determine who is at fault here. The leakers or the NYT.

Both.

I'm all for this. Congressman Pete King: YOU GO BOY!!!

However, if people would just quit reading the NYT wouldn't that take care of this Communist, tabloid rag? I mean people nationwide, including the powers-that-be in Washington, other media outlets and everyone who hates this type of treason. JUST QUIT READING IT AND QUIT COMMENTING ON IT. Pretend it's not there.

Superb!

the Times's new publisher, Arthur "Pinch" Sulzberger Jr ... was a sixties anti-war activist who famously declared that in a confrontation between an American and a North Vietnamese soldier he'd want to see the American get shot."

Michelle pulled together several nice pictures.

She was the messenger and she provided various links to the "author."

>>OK. Let's sit powerless while more planes fly into out buildings.<<

Are you suggesting that there should be no limits to what the government can do if they say it is relatesd to fighting terrorism? If that is what you are saying then I do not agree. We have procedures to get laws changed and the government should follow them if they need more power.

I would suggest that everyone contact the Times advertisers and demand they pull their advertising or else we will not purchase their products.

Good idea.
