"Planning to hit the Sears Tower!!!!"

Many years ago, I worked in the Sears Tower. Like the Trade Towers, you have to go up one embankment of elevators and then switch to another set to get to the top floors. I worked on the 74th floor. The building has a built in sway (so it won't snap off), and on really windy days, some people would literally get seasick up there, as it swayed to and fro. Wouldn't take much to bring that building down. The view was great though. During the summer, when the air show would take place, it was like having a ringside seat. You'd see the flying wedge come so close by the building you could see the whites of the pilot's eyes (slight exaggeration). Sure glad there was no terrorism threat back in those days, and now I am safely retired, and living in the burbs, away from the City of Chicago and its inherent dangers.

We have a large Islamic population in this area, many in the City, and many in the near and further parts of the south suburbs. Just saw a huge new Mosque about a week ago that has been built in Orland Park. My friend lives in Tinley, and her neighborhood isn't too far from the Mosque. It's a new neighborhood of big houses, and now Arab families are buying into this hood in large numbers. A new family is moving in right next to my friend. She's not real happy because as she says, you can't tell the good ones from the bad. Arab families are moving in all around her. She's not pleased and I completely understand. I wouldn't be either. Maybe she should consider moving, as with the Mosque being only about 10 blocks away, her area will become more and more Muslim than it already is. And these are expensive homes.

My father used to work across the street from the Sears Tower. I have a lot of great memories visiting that building throughout my childhood and teen years. The view of the Chicagoland area from the top is spectacular on a clear day.
