If the ALA wants to be taken seriously in any venue, they must rid themselves permanently of people like
Rosenzweig held the position of chief book-stacker and archivist for the "Reference Center for Marxist Studies" in New York.
I say if public libraries have degenerated to this we no longer need them.
I can buy books and bookshelves.

Ha - yes! There are posts copied to the Shush website that list a couple of other "hardened" librarians who really want to put our First Lady to the coals! What a joke.
We're all aware at how the libraries in the US are under constant attack from the religious right!

"I must, with the weariness and frustration that accompanies the anticipated yet still painful, hereby protest that this event turns our conference into a grand political photo-op for the administration of President George W. Bush, whose administration bears such a heavy responsibility for, among other things of which I will remind you, the debacle of the response to Hurricane Katrina and for its on-going aftermath. Drama queen?

I worked in the profession for about 7 years. Yes, the library profession is full of left-wing moonbats. Anyone who opposes them is labeled a "censor".

It is amazing how all these cowardly leftist hide like roaches in schools and libraries. They are unable to cope with reality so they hide in the shadows and lob bombs.

I Like Michelle, but, I wish she wouldn't paint all we librarians with such a broad brush. Personally I think the ALA is a bunch of nutbags. Liberals who couldn't work in the field that got pushed up to management.

They are opposed to censorship, yet always chosen books for their library that support their leftist point of view. They put books on the shelf that come close to prono, but whine when people complain about them. In their minds, obscenity is not determined by local standards but by what their publications tell them.

"Mrs. Bush is anachronistically called the 'First Lady,' with the fake gentility which is the hallmark of our provincial cult of the Presidency, but what she is, in [political] fact, regardless of her surfeit of -- to me -- rather cloying charm and her much publicized attachment to libraries as the no-political-downside way of demonstrating Bush Administration largesse, is the First Supporter of President Bush and one his most valuable public relations assets . . . she supports virtually every policy of her husband's administration -- tax cuts for the rich, the destruction of social security and Medicare, the privatization of public lands, the hand-outs to corporations, the support for the plundering by Big Oil, the covering for the abuses of the [pharmaceutical] industry, the invasion and occupation of Iraq (and the lies that were told to enable it), the blockade of Cuba and the threats to Latin America, the nuclear sabre-rattling, the USA Patriot Act, covert domestic surveillance, the attacks on the Bill of Rights and the entire Constitution, the flaunting of international law, and, let's not forget, 'Gitmo' and Abu Ghraib and Haditha. Now Mr. Rosenzweig, what have we told you about run on sentences?

I Like Michelle, but, I wish she wouldn't paint all we librarians with such a broad brush. I am not a librarian and think that you may taking this too personally. It seemed clear to me that she was speaking only of those that fall into the Bush Bashers group.

This ain't the first time Cuba has been blockaded, it ain't the fist time the government has been accused of "illegal domestic wiretapping" (the first was during WWII), Cuba is a "republic" in the way as the Soviet Union, DPRNK are/were "republics" (small
R intentional).
Wackjobs like that are the reason I have trouble going into a library anymore, and I used to be an assistant librarian and also continued lending reference books to the library of my kids' school until all of them graduated. Besides, I don't want to see any raincoat-wearing perves surfing porn OR displays of sculptured penises hanging from clotheslines. This is NOT what Ben Franklin had in mind!

Just as I thought, a devant-Marxist apologist and I bet he's one of the wing-nuts selecting titles for the library shelves.
Oh Nice.
No wonder we're going to hell and an Gucci hand-basket.
