Observers of contemporary society will surely have noted that a liberal is far more likely to fear global warming than a conservative. Why is this? After all, if the science is as conclusive as Al Gore, Time, Newsweek, The New York Times and virtually every other spokesman of the Left says it is, conservatives are just as likely to be scorched and drowned and otherwise done in by global warming as liberals will. So why aren't non-leftists nearly as exercised as leftists are? Do conservatives handle heat better? Are libertarians better swimmers? Do religious people love their children less?
The usual liberal responses -- to label a conservative position racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic or the like -- obviously don't apply here. So, liberals would have to fall back on the one remaining all-purpose liberal explanation: "big business." They might therefore explain the conservative-liberal divide over global warming thus: Conservatives don't care about global warming because they prefer corporate profits to saving the planet.

We've had two volcano eruptions in the past several weeks. Probably more to come. The earth knows what temperature is good for it. It has it's own cooling and heating systems (we call it weather). However, when the earth starts cooling down on its own, the leftists want to be able to take credit for it to keep the socialism going.
Liberals are just naturally more negative about everything than the average person.
They blow the negative side of any issue out of proportion.
They cannot see the good side of any policy or downplay it.
Global warming is just another issue to get paranoid about.
Liberals tend to fear dying themselves. Other people can die, that's not a problem. Saddam wasn't personally roaming the streets of NYC gunning down random passersby, so leave him alone. The 9/11 victims are dead anyway, so they don't count (except at election time.)
As for the reason liberals are envirowhackos, that is because they believe that an accident brought us here, therefore another accident could take us out. How all this environmental activism is supposed to prevent that eventuality is not the point. The point is that THEY must have total control in any case.
I've heard Prager on the radio before. If you looked up the phrase "bringing a butter knife to a gun fight," in the political dictionary, you would find his autographed photo.

Since most liberals are also atheistic to some degree (some more than others, but all on that end of the rope), they have good reason to fear dying and far less hope and faith that things will work themselves out.
This is simple psychology 101.

Liberals don't fear "global warming"...they embrace it.

The dead givaway to this is the fact that everything the Liberal/Marxist deplores just happens to be bad for the environment, like conspicuous consumption (excess solid waste), gasoline (eeeevil SUVs), meat consumption (farting cows), fastidious personal hygiene (hair sprays) and minimizing bodily odors (anti-perspirants and air conditioning)... OK, I made that last one up...
But everything that the Liberal/Marxist enjoys is either excused or ignored, like jetting about the World (often on private jets), hybrid vehicle battery disposal, inefficient "organic" agriculture, and the manifold environmental disasters in China and the former Soviet Union.
For instance, when was the last time you read in the Mainstream Media that uncontrolled coal mine fires in China emit more CO2 than every US vehicle East of the Mississippi River? Since the Chinese are favored by the Liberal/Marxist, they are permitted to pollute the World because they are too lazy to put out a few fires, but since you are an eeeevil capitalist, you are going to destroy the planet if you don't downsize from your Chevy Malibu to a Toyota Prius.
I didn't read the artlicle yet, so this is a placemarker. But I do agree with you that the Left adopted "environmentalism" as a lever to ram socialism down our throats. And environmentalism, handily for them, provides great opportunities to take potshots at businesses.
The only thing they forget is that the great socialist countries make America look like a piker when it comes to screwing up the environment.

All I've heard is some old guy telling stories. He's on at night here and I don't listen to the radio at night unless I am in the car, which isn't all that often anymore.
The Right tends to fight human evil such as communism and Islamic totalitarianism. The Left avoids confronting such evils and concentrates its attention instead on socioeconomic inequality, environmental problems and capitalism.
That is probably because people on the right are more likely to believe that humans are at least partially responsible for their behavior, where people on the left are more inclined to buy into the theory that our fate is determined by our environment. It is the old "Free Will" vs. "Determinism" controversy.
