Ian's got the video of Murtha on Meet The Press.
Transcript here.
After criticizing Karl Rove's "fat backside," Murtha put forth his fat-headed Okinawa plan:
MR. RUSSERT: You say redeploy. Again, Mr. Rove challenges that comment.
Lets listen and give you again a chance to respond to the White House.
(Videotape, Monday):
MR. ROVE: Congressman Murtha said, Lets redeploy them immediately to another country in the Middle East. Lets get out of Iraq and go to another country.
My question is, what country would take us? What country would say after the United States cut and run from Iraq, what country in the Middle East would say,
Yeah. Paint a big target on our back and then youll cut and run on us. What country would say that? What country would accept our troops?
MR. RUSSERT: Whats your response?
REP. MURTHA... We can go to Okinawa.
MR. RUSSERT: But itd be tough to have a timely response from Okinawa.
REP. MURTHA: Well, ityou know, theywhen I say Okinawa, I, Im saying troops in Okinawa. When I say a timely response, you know, our fighters can fly from Okinawa very quickly...

We listened to him before, it was a disastor.I can't believe that he implied that withdrawing from Somalia was a good thing! That was truly a disaster, and a real blow to our credibility, as well as giving bin Laden the idea we can be attacked with impunity. BTW, I heard somewhere that ol' BJ Clinton had a get-together at the White House for the loved ones of the Rangers lost in Mogadishu (sp?) and several of them refused to shake his hand. I would have refused, too.

Hung by his own words. He was for it before he was against it.

He speaks out of both sides of his mouth.
It is amazing that Murtha, Kerry, and the crew speak as if there are no recording of what they recently said.
Luckily, we can find their earlier comments.

This thread has been hysterically funny, your post makes it to the top.
John Murtha has gone around the bend big-time.

Are you kidding me? Okinawa? We're overdue and almost ready to leave Japan not deploy MORE there!!! What a dope. He must have learned this at the feet of the great foreign policy thinker Barbara Boxer....

2006 Commercial:
Murtha's plan for Somalia
OBL's response to the pullout
Murtha saying it was a good thing
OBL's response to the pullout
Voiceover, "do we really want to turn the clock back to 1993?" Is a failed plan the way forward?
Reminds me of Kerry's "plans" for dealing with North Korea as stated during the 2004 election - the same thing we did in the 1990s that worked so well.

How about somebody polling the voters in Murtha's district:
1. "How many of you are sorry that you supported Representative Murtha?"
2. "Does Murtha speak for you?"
3. "Do you think Rep. Murtha should withdraw from Congress?"

This guy might be crazier than Gore! OK Murtha, so you move 100,000 troops to Okinawa and North Korea assumes you're staging to attack them and lobs a few nukes at the US. Good going, Einstein.

Scotty could beam them over. Why not keep them in outer space, and use shuttle craft when troops are needed?

As many of us understand at FR, this man is very dangerous. He is not going to be called on this. Diane's campaign can bring it up, but how many democrates in his district are going to vote him out of office. Unless the RNC, the Whitehouse, and all less then RINO's in both houses start to fully support this president on his WOT, the public will continue to get mixed signals, wrong ideas, not in the least be educated even slightly at the level say many of us are at FR and other conservative/military sites.
And this is what this asshole and his far left liberal associates bet on.

And the direct path from Okinawa to Iraq is over mainland China and Iran. I doubt that they'll mind us flying over. So, were we to follow Murtha's suggestion, we would be at war with China too? Brilliant. This guy should get a CAT scan to find out what is happening to his brain.

Plus they would have to fly over Iran ! Both ways ... So Murtha's plan would have both China and Iran declaring war on us. Does he have any other brilliant suggestions?

People often reach the age of senility, even those who have been war heroes in earlier days! Mr Murtha has seemed to cross that milestone.. He needs to be retired..........
