Facing mounting problems over its inability to deliver the A380 superjumbo plane on time, Airbus looks set to request state aid for the development of a troubled midsize jetliner in what some analysts described as a rescue package. Meanwhile, the German co-head of the parent company EADS warned on Sunday of broader consequences from the latest "crisis" at Airbus.

Well spotted!
Guess the author needs to go back to J School.
'Therefore Airbus was a wonderful chance for us.'
Lets hope euroland govts continue to subsidise Airbus or the 30% owned by Germany, or more accurately, owned by Daimler-Chrysler, won't be worth the paper it's printed on.
I reckon BAE have picked a wise time to pull out - $4bn in their pocket and they can concentrate on building JSF's and Bradley IFV's for the US military. While passenger airline travel comes and goes, you can always rely on strong sales of anything military, particularly if your customers are American! :D
Look for Bob Geldof to have aid concerts for Scarebus.
The U.S. filed its WTO case against Airbus a little over a year ago. Unfortunately, that means it will be years before the outcome is decided. As for your cherry-picking of the decisions I posted, WTF?
To say nothing of the popularity of the 777 on international flights.

However, with the airline trend towards smaller planes running near capacity, the 787 (which replaces the 767) will shine. The 787 will have an incredible range, luxurious interior, superior fuel economy and extremely low operating costs.
Airbus is already dead and does not know it.
state aid= crippling taxes on individual workers
clintonspeak= "contributions"
hitlary speak= "fair share contributions"
I find it very ironic that boeing bet on capitalism and won.
Airbus literally bet on feelings and symbolism over substands with making a super jumbo to just make a super jumbo.
Just goes to show you:
money talks and bs walks,
or
Boeing flies and Airbus dies.
