No. I haven't bothered. However, I did get a not so subtle clue when I posted a response to a photo of a gorgeous female Tunisian fan after the Saudi match. I said something to the effect that the girl would have her head lopped off in Saudi Arabia for dressing so provactively. The response was something like, "Yeah, so, maybe we should bomb Iran then eh?" I can only imagine what the politics boards are like with responses like that.

Stick with FR, quality over quantity.

True enough, their current government is very leftist. Their previous PM Aznar was OK, though.

This information is 20 years old. But I suspect that it is still accurate.

The last time I was there, everybody hated Reagan and NATO. But any American who spoke even a little Spanish was very popular.

That is so utterly typical. ALWAYS finding a way to trash the US, no matter what the subject is.

I was there during the Clinton bombing of Serbia. "OTAN Asesinos" (NATO murderers) was graffiti'ed everywhere, but people were generally quite nice, esp since I was there for language training and so tried to speak Spanish every chance I could.

Hey - didn't Tab Ramos play for Betis back in the mid 90s?

There's one thing that forum definitely has over FR though; not a single trite troll post in sight.

Horrible penalty but Allah is very angry. There are women at the game.
Not only that, you can see that they are women, not cousin It.

That's right. I think he was also with another smaller club there too at one point.

Ante Razov was also in Spain for about a year or so.

Looking back at my post; I realized that I made a mistake. The Spanish hate the US government. But Madrilenos and Castilians love Americans that speak Castilian. I can't imagine that anyone who speaks Castilian is too popular in Cataluna, Galicia or Basque Country.

Although, I can fake a Mexican accent; so FC Barcelona fans would forgive me if I talked like Rafa Marquez.

Yes he did. One of the reasons I picked them as my 'Spanish' team. That and I thought Denilson (Brasil) was going to be a great footballer after seeing him in WC98, but he was mostly inconsistent for them.

Alternatively, there was the rule from the old U.S. league from the 70’s, that no offsides would be called within 25 yards of the goal.

How about that the off-sides rule should be done away with if the offense has control of the ball within the penalty area, i.e. the penalty area is an "offside free" zone.

This would allow free movement of any offensive player within the penalty area once the ball has entered the penalty area, and the player cannot be whistled for an off-side.

I've seen too many times where the goalie is being pressured from within the penalty area, a shot hits the post or crossbar, but then the follow-up shot by the offense is a "no goal" because of an off-side violation.

I suppose it is the whole idea, but I do try to put politics and nationalism aside during this greatest of international contests.

I enjoy seeing a good game and watching great players no matter who they play for.

Having said all that.....

Go England on Tuesday. If they beat Sweden, they won't encounter Germany in the next round. And.....

Go USA on Thursday. They have a tough - but not impossible job, with a little help from Italy.

A Germany-England matchup would be awesome, that is what I have been most anticipating. If they don't meet in the round of 16, could they then only meet in the Final?

Yes, they could meet in the final.

According to my schedule, if Germany and England both win their group, they could not meet until the final.

I'm an England fan, and I want England to play Germany as soon as possible.

Germany was not a strong side before the WC, so you want to face them as early as possible before they build any more confidence and momentum.
