Why would France go home? If they beat Togo comfortably, which they should, surely they go through on goal difference if the other sides draw.

France has scored 1 goal in their last 5 WC matches. That gives me little confidence in their ability to win by multiple goals against Togo.

I don't like Trezeguet either! Henry is a fantastic player but he didn't seem to get much of the ball.

Statistics are irrelevant. They were out of sorts in the previous world cup but I doubt they will be this time round.

I was listening to the XM Radio World Cup show last night, and they said that the estimates were that there would be 30 Billion views of the 64 matches...and the entire tournament cost $1 billion to put on.

As far as statitsics go, it is worth noting that both Ghana and the USA will be without their leading goal scorers in their match on Thursday. Gyan and Muntari will be out with yellow cards, and top US goal scorer Zaccardo will be playing for Italy.

LOL. Poor Zaccardo, let's hope the dunce is replaced by Oddo.

Why so much? Unlike with the Olympics, the venues were already built, weren't they?

I don't think they all were done. I think Berlin had a huge renovation for the World Cup. I know that South Africa is having to build a bunch of new stadiums for 2010.

In the case of Germany though, the amount spent on security is probably huge. Having the US, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea there is enough to give them the willies over there.

Soccer is boring and my favorite (boring) sport is better. Just kidding. ;)

I am really looking forward to the Spain/Tunisia match, just to see if the Spaniards can continue with their sterling play. But this has to be one of the most ho-hum days in terms of quality matchups.

They said Leipzig was an East German Stadium that was gutted too.

Rebrov scores to put Ukraine up 2-0.

Too bad Rebrov couldn't have scored at Tottenham. I think he cost Spurs about 5.5 million pounds a goal.

Someone's just a wee bit bitter... ;)

Besides, Zaccardo might just be playing for the Czech Republic.

Don't feed trolls -- ignore them and they'll either get bored and go away or get frustrated at being ignored. Win-win.

Please excuse another dumb question -- can a player switch sides in the middle of a tournament? That doesn't seem right.
