I didn't say your thoughts were inaccurate. I pointed out that people are quick to jump on an average American that wants to make more money. But, if a CEO of a poorly run, or even a well run company, makes millions, no one says a word. In fact, they are applauded. Why do you not applaud a teacher that betters himself and his family for making as much money as he can?

You bet! Not one thing is inaccurate.

Again......Can you spell: red herring!

The taxpayers don't pay the CEO's salary. CEO compensation is a matter for the shareholders and is no one else's business. I pay teachers' salaries with my property taxes whether I want to or not, and yet have no say in how the money is spent. Nobody makes me invest in Exxon.
The CEO's pay comes from the company's customers who can buy from the company or not.
Teachers are paid from tax revenue which is extracted from the unwilling at the point of a gun.
Ha! Ever hear of banks? Wall Street? Pension Funds? Insurance funds? Bond holders? Board of Directors? Middle Americans and their IRAs?
As a public employee he makes it at my expense and politics had more to do with how his salary and benefits got set.
The greedy CEO is in a workplace market where free choices of free people agreed to his salary, and free people making free choices bought the products that paid for that salary; not your politically parceled out tax dollars that were taken from your pocket by the force of law.
I would like to see state and federal laws that limit pension and health benefits of ALL public employees to no greater than the average of the citizens in their jurisdiction. Citizens' taxes should not be confiscated to pay greater benefits to the people the citizens hire than the average citizen themself can obtain.
That's absolutely not true. People complain all the time about grossly inflated CEO salaries. And sports stars. And actors. But at least they're not raiding MY WALLET.
Exactly when was the last time a CEO of any company sent in a goon with a gun to demand that you pay for a product/service that was pure unadulteratedl sh*t?
For starters, because I pay the bill. Teacher salaries at $70,000 hit me much harder in the pocket book than does $400 million paid to one top exec at an oil company.
The oil companies salary, while excessive in my view, equals not 1/1000th of 1 cent of the price of a gallon of gasoline.
On the other hand, one of the largest budget items in my state is the cost of public education. The state tax on a gallon of gasoline amount to about 40 cents a gallon.
sounds like you're advocating nationalizing oil industry. otherwise there is no comparison between monies paid to a ceo of a PRIVATE corporation and the salary of a PUBLICLY FUNDED teacher with UNION representation.
That's funny...because I see ton's of whining by the DBM about this CEO..or that CFO settling to earth with some humongous parachute.
BTW..I'm not going to begrudge anyone for wanting more....but I can tell you it's very tiresome to read in the local catfish wrap...at least every week..about how teachers are underpaid. Now I realize most of this is designed by the NEA......but it does happen way too often.
When I decided on a profession...I had an idea what that profession paid. Many times..it appears as if newly graduated teachers have no clue as to what the job market held for them.....
Maybe it's just me...but that doesn't seem very smart.
