The writer, Gaby Wood, seems to rely heavily on Robert Alterman to provide the smear quotes against Coulter. Alterman is a far left university professor (what else?) who has written a number of books in favor of leftist causes. However, when Alterman states that Anne was fired by MSNBC after criticizing a paraplegic Vietnam veteran, he is correct. Whether it happened during a commercial break is another question.
What actually happened was that Coulter and the veteran, a man named Cullen, were set up to debate the Vietnam war. Cullen was the leader of an anti Vietnam war group, in much the same way as Kerry was. During the debate, Coulter said to Cullen, speaking about his views, "No wonder you guys lost the war". It was for that remark that she was fired.
You will notice that her offense was in doing what she complains about in her new book; she had the temerity to attack the views of a designated victim whose opinions, like those of the Jersey girls, are beyond debate.

many thanks....but in 'criticizing' a handicapped vet, was she criticizing his Views or the fact he was Handicapped? i suspect the 'views'....so the entire thing was a sham, whether it was on air or backstage.......how can you debate someone without criticizing their position/views?

Actually she criticized him for the erroneous remark he made: " 90% of all American casualties were from American made mines"

Wrong ! It is true that many of the Viet Cong IED's used parts they salvaged from the remains of U.S. made ordinances, though .. . . . . . .
