NJ assemblywomen call for boycott of new Coulter book

TRENTON, N.J. - Commentator Ann Coulter's incendiary words about outspoken 9/11 widows have led two state lawmakers to calls for a boycott of her book in the widows' home state of New Jersey.

Assemblywomen Joan M. Quigley, D-Hudson, and Linda Stender, D-Union, on Thursday called on New Jerseyans to stop buying the book, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," and for retailers in the state to stop selling it.

"Coulter's vicious characterizations and remarks are motivated by greed and her desire to sell books. By making these claims, she proved herself worse than those she is attempting to vilify - she is a leach trying to turn a profit off perverting the suffering of others," the two assemblywomen said in a statement.

A spokeswoman for Crown Forum, the publisher of Coulter's book, did not immediately return calls for comment Thursday.

In her new book, Coulter writes that a group of New Jersey widows whose husbands perished in the World Trade Center act "as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them."

She also wrote, "I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much."

The comments drew criticism Wednesday from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., who said the book should be called "Heartless," and New York's Republican Gov. George Pataki, who said he was stunned by the remarks.

Coulter appeared Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show and stuck by her stance, saying the women used their grief "to make a political point."

Her criticism was aimed at four New Jersey women she dubbed "The Witches of East Brunswick," after the town where two of them live.

The women - Kristen Breitweiser, Lorie Van Auken, Mindy Kleinberg and Patty Casazza - have spent the years since the 2001 terror attacks supporting an independent commission to examine government failures before the attack. During the 2004 presidential race, they endorsed Democrat John Kerry.

So why do you object? It doesn't bother you when Coulter speculates.

Who says I'm objecting? I'm merely pointing out you're apparent inconsistency.

In my last post, "you're" should be "your".

I'm only inconsistent if you think Bones is inconsistent.

Well you lost me there, sink!

Anyway, if you ever want to answer the original question, go for it.

But it's okay to call our military murderers, to advocate shooting the President of the US between the eyes, etc. etc..etc! Go Ann!

I'm sorry. I've forgotten it. If it had something to do with what I know about Bones' personal life, I know nothing.

But that's as much as Bones knows about the Jersey Girls marital status. So, I figure, if she can talk about them, I can talk about her.

Bummer. I can't remember the exact phrasing but here is a paraphrase of her response to Hitlery calling her mean spirited towards the NJ gaggle:

If she wants to worry about being mean to women she should talk to her husband, who was accused of rape by Juanita Broderick and was fondling Kathleen Willey while her husband was commiting suicide

"Coulter threads seperate the men from the boyz here on FR. All the pseudo-conservatives come crawling out of their rocks bashing Coulter with the exact shrill strawman and out-of-context arguments the Left themselves use."

Here's the rub. It's been two days since the release of the book. You have 400+ comments on this thread. Now, although I don't expect an honest answer from the studio audience:
"How many commenting have actually READ her book?"
I suspect the same number that decided to comment on 'The Bell Curve' without reading it.

I am in the midst of reading the book right now. It is typical Ann Coulter. And once one gets past that tongue planted firmly in cheek ( no innuendoes, please ), she does raise some interesting points in the sections I have read through.

And, I've noticed on these threads regarding Ann's book several characteristics of her detractors:
1. The same folks who wanted to ban, shout down, or (if they had a gun ) shoot those criticising the nomination of Harriet Miers
2. The same folks who want to ban, shout down, ot ( if they had a gun ) shoot those who are against the Bush/Rino/Democrat amnesty for illegal aliens
3. The folks who usually confine themselves to the same attic as the crazy aunt (crevo threads).

In all three cases, a good number of the critics tend to be some of the most disingenuous debators on this forum. The book is definitely akin to a winnowing fork to separate grain from chaff.

I haven't read this entire thread, but hopefully someone pointed out the difference in the liberal media's reaction to what Coulter said and what Ward Churchill said. Does anyone remember him referring to the people in the WTC as 'little Eichmanns'. Funny, but I don't recall any outrage from the Joisey gals about their dead husbands being called Nazi's.

Have you ever had the situation happen where you tell a really funny joke to a group and notice that almost everyone got the punchline? Then you look a little closer at a few people's faces and know that they really didn't get it? They sometimes kind of chuckle, at first, so that they don't stand out form the crowd. Then, shortly after they go around telling everybody what a jerk the joke-teller was for telling a joke that they couldn't understand but acted like they did?

I swear I am having one of those "Outer Limits" moments when reading the responses of those misinterpreting the quote and context of what Ann said. I know she has sympathy for what the wives went through after 911 because I have heard her say it ad nauseam in the many interviews it is brought up in. This controversy is only bringing more evidence in support of her premise...the libs and MSM uses people like these widows as "human shields" for knowing that their idiotic positions and opinions will be protected by these "sacred cows.".

I'm shocked to find out you have a wife. You use phrases that women mostly use. All along I thought you were a female.

Ann is right about democrats always using "victims" as human shields for their causes. These four have basked in the media spotlight and have campaigned for Kerry using their victim-hood as the main reason for their arguments.
I totally agree with Ann about the Jersey girls.
You think Ann is "mean", not really a term men use often but you sure do. I like the fact that she is mean, vicious and blunt attacking the left.

How about the "b" word? That's a term men use, and she's every bit of that.

I didn't spit while I was typing. Should I start doing that, since "men do that sort of thing"?

You're an odd duck. You actually believe there are "men words" and "women words"? LOL!! It takes all kinds.

Hahahaha... I bought my copy of Godless last night. The people who pushed me to buy it were the liberals. That's a terrific way to get a best-seller sold. Censor it!

Barnes & Noble? I purchased a membership card AND the book. The Ann Coulter book display was right in the front when I entered my local store. I didn't have to go very far to find it! (laughing)

Ann Coulter was on Laura Ingraham this morning and explained herself AGAIN about her meaning to her statements that these women enjoyed their husbands' deaths through all the attention and money they are making off of them. Just like Cindy Sheehan (sp?). Even Cindy's family didn't support her. These lefties play dirty pool and Thank the Lord for Ann Coulter. She speaks for me!! LOVE YOU ANN!! "Cashier....may have two of those books please?" Hillary: SHUT UP!"
