Conservative author Ann Coulter is firing back at Sen. Hillary Clinton, after the former first lady attacked her for being "vicious [and] mean-spirited" towards a group of politically active 9/11 widows.
"I think if she's worried about people being mean to women she should have a talk with her husband," Coulter told radio host Sean Hannity, who was hosting a book signing for the conservative firebrand on Long Island.
"This is, I remind you, Bill Clinton's wife," Coulter added. "[And I'm the one who's] mean to women?"
Earlier in the day, Mrs. Clinton complained about Coulter's attacks on the Jersey Girls, a group of 9/11 widows who blamed President Bush for the attacks that killed their husbands and who campaigned for John Kerry in 2004.
"Perhaps [Coulter's] book should have been called 'Heartless,"' the top Democrat said. "I know a lot of the widows and family members who lost loved ones on 9/11. They never wanted to be a member of a group that is defined by the tragedy of what happened."
An angry Clinton added that she found it "unimaginable that anyone in the public eye could launch a vicious, mean-spirited attack on people whom I've known over the last four and a half years to be concerned deeply about the safety and security of our country."
But Coulter told Hannity: "She may know the 9/11 widows, but you and I know Juanita Broaddrick" - a reference to one of Mr. Clinton's accusers.
Coulter delivered her broadsides against Mrs. Clinton as a phalanx of TV and print reporters looked on.
The heavy coverage was prompted by the New York Daily News, which frontpaged Coulter's comments on the Jersey Girls in Wednesday editions.
I was applying my point to the Jersey Girls.
Cute that you accuse me of being a liberal when all I'm calling for is decencey.
Perhaps this conversation is a little too difficult for you?
Then your agument makes no sense.
But, as far as my post goes, that single word "victim" makes an appropriate statement of my view of how Juanita's saga had been handled by the media and leftists during the Clinton years.
Does she mean like the way she and most of the democrats attack president Bush viciously? Hypocrite.
No I am a natural supporter of Coulter. She is strong on al the issues I hold as important and up until lately she has been a voice of reason on all of them. However; something is happening to her and I don't know what it is. She is right about the Jersey Girls I believe that they are opportunists just as Cindy Sheehan. Having said that this country made a very serious mistake in the wake of 911. We went way beyond reasonable generosity in taking care of the families and have set a very dangerous precedent if and when we take another large hit. We have already seen it with Katrina and it will only get worse.
The sad fact is that the nation put 911 families in some type of special no touch zone even if some of them are milking it. Most people only know that these women are 911 widows and they now have been very viciously attacked by a well known conservative iconoclast. It may be a bum rap for Ann but she asked for it and now I think she is going to pay a very high price for it. I saw this same type of break down with Ariana Huffington and when she became an outcast with conservatives she went to the loony left just to keep in the game.
Exactly, and the MSM will make sure they are confused and stay confused by not allowing the people who still give it a smidgen of credibility to hear or see Coulter's explanation of who and what activities she was referring to with those oh so "insensitive" comments.
Losing a mate to a terror attack doesn't automatically make a wife's wrongheaded notions and totally unfounded accusations against the President of the USA into gospel truth.
Ann says everything we wish we could say, and she says it more wittily, more logically, more bluntly than most of us ever could. And she's always right!

BUMP!
Can't even find her nose with her own finger. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!
BUMP!
Not completely disagreeing that much of what people do is for self interest. However the question is: does what they do help or hinder the agenda. Despite going over the top many times Coulter, in my opinion, undoubtedly furthers the conservative agenda. People who do not follow politics, like Freepers and other news junkies, know who she is and what she stands for. If it weren't for people like Coulter, most lib icons, like Shrillary, would go unchallenged.
It's better to have some apolitical people being dismayed by Coulter's MO but having doubts raised about their glorious lib leaders than not knowing who she is and swallowing whole all the liberal crap that swamps them every day of the week. In short we still need activists who get the message out...even if they are only out for themselves...which I personally do not think is Coulter's only motivation.
Just a lot of talk about the pols and their righteous indignation! LOL.....right!!!
You nailed it!

Have been listening to WABC radio for a couple of hours. Not a word about Ann's response to her heinous.

Keep me posted, I don't listen to anything but Rush and WFAN New York sports talk and I don't watch TV news anymore, so I could be way out of touch on this. However I am a professional sports photographer and have contacts with many news people, and do know what they look for. Believe me, they would sell their souls for any story that would boost ratings.I think the key is how they spin the story. Ann, I feel, would get coverage, but would be spun to look vicious and petty, while the reactions to her quotes would seem reasoned and insightful.
You don't need it for entertainment, yet you still post. Must be some kind of attention getter freak!
