Grrr! Ann Coulter Goes Too Far
fox news ^ | June 8 06 | Mike Straka

Posted on 06/07/2006 5:24:50 PM PDT by churchillbuff

What a moron.

Ann Coulter, that is.

After calling a group of 9/11 widows "harpies" who seem to be "enjoying their husbands' deaths" in her new book, the conservative pundit has gone too far. She even added:

"And by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy..."

Huh?

Ugly is the only way I can describe what Coulter has written. Now I understand why Time magazine put her on the cover a few years ago and made her look like a praying mantis. She just might be the type of creature that would eat its mate after sex.

By speaking on behalf of conservatives, she makes us look as bad as michael moore makes liberal looks. I think someone made that comparison earlier. She has said that women are not as smart as men--she was not just talking about women who support abortion, but all women.
"It would be a much better country if women did not vote. That is simply a fact. In fact, in every presidential election since 1950 — except Goldwater in '64 — the Republican would have won, if only the men had voted." ^ a b c "An appalling magic", The Guardian Online, May 17, 2003
I understand her wanting Republicans to win, but I don't think she goes about it in the "right" way. I know all conservatives are not the same, but I don't think the majority of Republicans are as hateful as she is. It backfires, as the liberals are finding out. We shouldn't stoop to tha level is all I'm saying.

I bet none of the 911 harpies ever read it.

But again, why should we stoop to their level? Is there no proverbial high road anymore?

I, too, have thought that exploiting 9-11 was wrong. I felt bad for firemen and policeman who die everyday being brave and doing their jobs with little recognition. I am not sure what the widows are doing, but they are definitely not the only widows in this war. I respect when the loved ones of cancer victims or other diseases speak out to help people. These 9-11 widows are not helping by speaking out, because their speaking out will not end terrorism.

Please note what the "proverbial high road" has brought us overall. You can only be nice so long before someone needs to come out and call a spade a spade.

Sorry, but there is no high road when it comes to dealing with liberals and their minnions. Granted, I may not speak as strongly as Ann, but it's about time someone did. Bravo for her doing it.

Keep in mind too, it's the "proverbial high road" that is being used to condemn our troops before investigations are even finished by Liberals. It was the "proverbial high road" that ended up letting 2.5 million of us who served in Viet Nam be slandered and castigated as murderers, walking time bombs and baby killers over the past 3 decades.

For those that wish, be my guest to take the "proverbial high road." Just don't be surprised to wake up in November this year seeing Liberals back in charge of Congress with the White House following in 08.

Sometimes, you need to fight fire with fire.

Speaking TRUTH is the proverbial high road. It's been lacking for a long time - that's why it's strange to you - you think it's stooping.

But again, why should we stoop to their level? Is there no proverbial high road anymore?

CORNWALLIS: Apology accepted. Now, on the matter of the specific targeting of officers during engagements, this is absolutely unacceptable.

MARTIN: That one is a bit more difficult.

CORNWALLIS: Certainly you must know that in civilized warfare, officers in the field must not be accorded inappropriate levels of hostile attention.

MARTIN: And what are inappropriate levels of hostile attention?

CORNWALLIS: Colonel, imagine the utter chaos that would result from un-led armies having at each other. There must be gentlemen in command to lead and, when appropriate, restrain their men.

MARTIN: Restrain them from the targeting of civilians, including women and children? CORNWALLIS: That is a separate issue. MARTIN: I consider them linked.

CORNWALLIS: I beg to differ. One is a command decision on your part. The other represents nothing more than the occasional over-exuberance of field officers attempting to carry out their duty in difficult circumstances.

MARTIN: As long as your soldiers attack civilians, I will order the shooting of your officers at the outset of every engagement. And my men are excellent marksmen.

Historically, American politics has been bare knuckled and bloody. Personally, I've never thought too much of the president's "new tone" in Washington. It's one of the reasons his approval ratings are so low. If you are a leader and you allow others to kick at you and you don't fight back people lose respect for you. If you don't fight back when they are outright lying you look weak.

Why is Ann Coulter right and this guy is wrong?

It's a good question. I'll give it a shot.

Rall's cartoon seems to say that, based on their media appearances, the 911 widows and widowers were greedy, shallow, and undeserving of sympathy. The cartoon offends with a very broad brush. It criticizes people who have done nothing wrong, people who deserve respect for their losses.

Coulter directs her scorn at a much smaller target group, specific individuals who have acted in a way that deserves to be criticized. The Jersey widows who cynically used 911 as a springboard to advance their political agendas are similar to Cindy Sheehan, who parlayed her son's death into a career as the globe-trotting Mama Moonbat.

If Rall's cartoon had been targeted at specific individuals, real people who had behaved as he described, it would have been a sad commentary, but not offensive.

You are shortsighted and so is O'Reilly. He said that he made his point much more successfully about Cindy Sheehan than did Ann Coulter.

What you and O'Reilly fail to take into account is that O'Reilly made his point TO THE CONSERVATIVE SIDE OF THE EQUATION. A big fat "so what."

Ann is forceful enough in her remarks that she has gotten national attention, both the Conservative but also the muddled Center and the Libs. As a result, many, many more people are going to read, hear and discuss her thoughts; the Libs will dismiss them but a lot of the muddled minds in the middle are going to hear her thoughts and see the wisdom of what she says. She's a net winner on this.

When you are at war you sometimes have to use a Bunkerbuster, that line is it.

These women were Party hacks that were given credibility for one reason alone and that was because their husbands died in 911, nothing else.

Nothing is sacred for liberals and Ann called them on it. She just knocked down their PC wall. Ann Rox Again
