The kicker in all of this is Barry Lynn, executive director of 'Americans Unted for the Separation of CHurch and State' and he's an ordained UCC minister. He loves going after conservatives groups... will he go after his own church?????

You mean the UCC is still considered to be a church? One local fellow, a member of the denomination, calls it the "United Christless Church".

Liberals will justify this as a decision made for economic reasons, not religious.

Wasn't the Rev. Barry Lynn the head of the ACLU before he became the head of Americans United for Seperation of Church and State? Somehow that sticks in my old memory chip?
To: AllTheRage
No he won't, and it is a branch of the communist party, not a "church".

So much for the separation groups... they'll be silent about the liberal churches

I hope so. The Connecticut Conference of the UCC is way out on the left wing, just like the national, even though most of the congregations are a mix ranging from the descendants of the old founding settlers in Connecticut to moderates with a fair number of real lefties since "open and affirming" took hold. The clergy are almost all pretty left.

Remember: it's only evil if the money is supporting conservative causes.
Liberal causes are exactly what the church should be pursuing - therefore the money is okay.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State will probably investigate. I would be very surprised. They only care about going after people who are traditional in their theology. New age philosophy I doubt will be a target.

Met a UCC minister from Hartford several years ago.
He wore a priest's collar. Only time I have ever seen someone from the UCC wearing one.
I think it was in the hopes that his congregation and the other "gentlemen of the community" wouldn't mug him if he ever strolled the streets outside of his church in a "certain" section of Hartford.

Barry Lynn, an ordained unemployed minister in the United Church of Christ, is the Executive Director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. Fixed that.
